New Recruits! Changing your mind?

Don't develop players from freshman to senior years. I am to the point where I think it won't matter where our class ranks because they will be the same player 4 years from now that they are right now.

This is why we should become JucoUEast.

So by seeing the new commits we have had this past week, it made me think if I would change my decision on how many wins I would accept for Rhoads to stick around. My original thought was bowl game, then after this 1-2 start I have said at least 3 conference wins and I think he will stick around 1 more year. Now seeing the recruits we have picked up this past week, will they leave if he gets fired? That is the only thing that sucks is how much further will fall before getting back to at least where we are now which isn't good.

So my question is!! Has this weeks recruits changed your mind any in wanting CPR stick around instead of the possibility of losing these guys?

Wins only... He has to win. Nothing else matters in year 7 but wins. Enough wins for a bowl game with zero weight given to "good losses".

Are they 4 or 5 star players that will make immediate impacts next year? No? Then no. I'm not sure why landing a 3 star player should make me want to keep Rhoads around since he probably wont develop them at all.

Go back and look at the "good" years--year 1-4 under Rhoads.

We won close games.

We now lose close games.

Our point differentials and things haven't changed all that much.

Not the easiest thing to somehow fix, I guess, however. :(

"Good" years is certainly a proper context and is subject to debate. Those were "good" years by ISU standards. I don't think those those "good" years were that great.

1. Do we have superior coaching to compensate for inferior talent and/or talent development? According to ncaa.com, we currently rank 58th in total defense and 94th in total offense. Keep in mind we haven't begun conference play yet.

2. Do we have superior talent to overcome coaching error? According to Scout.com our classes ranked; 81st in 2016, 71st in 2015, 52nd in 2014, 65th in 2013.

No. My frustration is not in our recruiting as I think our physical talent level has risen under CPR. It is lack of perpetration and poor game planning that drives me crazy.

And the games that we do look like we have a nice game plan, we get 25 penalties or turnovers or something that negates the good plan of attack. I'm tellin' ya, it's the Cyclone curse.

Am I wrong or do these recruits we are suddenly getting only have other offers from like South Dakota an Purdue and such like?
