New FB commit?

It lists him as a redshirt frosh on last years roster. So i bet he has 3 years to play 3.

I was just going of the small article on scout.com

Scout.com: ISU Land Another 2009 Football Commitment

Jacob is an outstanding linebacker prospect that led his team in tackles last season. He will have four years to play three when he arrives at Iowa State later this summer. We will have more on the 6-foot-3, 240-pound linebacker in the near future

Lattimer..........The Program anyone?? Hopefully he's nuttier than squirrel schmitz like in the movie. (minus the roids)

Phenomenal. Now we just need Arnaud to get a motorcycle, Bo Williams and A-Rob to get in battle over a hot tutor and a scarier-than-**** middle linebacker that breaks his leg in 17 places in the final game.

Hardly the "awesome" commit. Those were all taken up during the normal times. This sounds like a body at LB, which we need. Hopefully turns into Lattimer from The Program.

Wallace Franklin is leaving is all I know. Said the new coaching staff isn't renewing his scholarship so he's doing summer school and going to school elsewhere. I don't think this is new news at all, so don't harp on me

He has three years, because he redshirted as a frosh in 2007 with a foot injury. Only played one year, so was expected to graduate in Deember, but apparently CPR nabbed him when that either changed, or he decided not to stay at juco another season.

Looks to me like he might have been a 4 star with another year at juco. Great pickup, might take him a whiole to adapt, but I'm betting he plays a lot, and starts as a junior.

The issue about the number of years on the clock probably depends on when the foot injury occurred. If it happened at the Juco, he almost surely has used his red shirt year. If it was a carryover from high school, there are some NCAA regs that could provide for a delay in starting the eligibility clock.

Thank you. I like serious discussion around here. The kid looks like a nice addition this late in the game. He will probably help on special teams, play a few snaps late in the year and battle for time as a junior and senior. A kid that is nice when you need bodies.

Is this not news? Not that I was expecting big things from him, but he at least had looked good this spring. You add him to Land, Lindner, and the estimated 3-5 academic casualties who have yet to be named, and I'm starting to worry a little bit more about who we might have here in two months...yeah baby, two months away from camp!

I wouldn't say it's an awful commit, I actually like what I've seen so far. Two 3 star recruits, neither from the state, and I believe at this time last year we maybe had one recruit. Most of the time when a recruit commits to us this early, either he is a nobody two star or he is from the state and grew up wanting to play for us.

Except that he's a late commit (for '09), and will be playing this fall.

...unless there's another commit I haven't heard of yet.

Funny, that ddn't work for guys like Austin Alburtis, who blew out his knee in high school, and didn't magically add another year of eligibility when he got to ISU.

If this guy has some smarts, he will have the opportunity to make an impact this coming season. We need help at LB.

I don't think Linder is leaving.

Land is gone but I seem to remember nothing coming of the Linder rumors.

It is a bit odd picking up a guy this late.

Oh well, beggers can't be choosers and we need all the line backer help we can get. Hope he does great!
