New Commitment: Kevin Hamlin

All right, another linebacker to go into the strength and conditioning grist mill (looks like he could use some guns), runs well, t he's not 5-11.

I can live with that...

Brave kid, a Floridian committing after the weather last weekend.

Instinct and a motor, not much else. This will be a prime example of how Chizik molding a good player into a great one. Teach him the fundamentals and add some beef he could be a better one. Well have to re-discuss this in a few years.

Almost exactly what I noticed. Good instinct, eye for the ball, but must learn to tackle lower. Stronger, faster backs in the Big 12 will punish someone trying to tackle all upper body.

a guy who needs 1-2 years in the weight room, deff. a redshirt guy, has a knack for getting around the ball, could be a solid player with some help from the coaches, i like the looks of him so far.

Recruited by Eastern Kentucky and Florida Atlantic? Yikes. Cross your fingers.

Wisconsin just signed a recruit that came down to Florida International and them. I would take Wisconsin's record over the past 3 years (even in the Big 11).

Two words: Wesley Johnson.

Or Lane Danielson.
Or Jeff Hornacek
Or Bob Sanders

Ask Iowa about their highly ranked 2005 recruiting class with all the stars in front of their names and all the premier schools that wanted those players. It didn't amount to crap!!!!

I love those sites like CR and the former CN, but one thing they can't measure is heart & desire. Just keep that in mind whenever signing day comes around. We don't know jack**** until those players hit the field against the opposition.

Its all about probability. There will always be 2-star guys going on to be studs and 4-star guys going on to be duds, but the chance to get a special player does increase with the amount of "stars" or whatever that are acclimated to them. We just need to get lucky on some of these guys....we'll be alright.

I find it interesting that the local televison stations, local newspapers, local radio stations routinely report a new recruit the same day it was premium info. So CSTV did the same as the local boys.

When a recruit verbals, does CR, local TV, local radio, local newspapers call up Gene and group or do they send emails out or does CR let the others know? Just curious.

In Omaha, the radio stations even go to school press conferences to hear whom the recruits choose. It has become a bnoteriety circus. Remember PAllen and all his fake moves on signng for baskeball? He enjoyed the attention apparently.

A FUNNY:
One NU coach, Eckel, wore a Will Compton tatoo on Monday to try to recruit him. Will recommitted.

Your missing a few: North Carolina, Purdue, Illinois, Wisconsin and Georgia. He was also named the Palm Beach Post and the Sun-Sentinel Player of the year. The only video that is posted on the internet from him so far...is from his sophomore year.

By Hamlin's video it seems the kid can fly to the ball but does he know what shoulder pads are for? There were an awful lot of arm tackles there. I'm sure his technique will improve under Gene's guidance.

The only video that is available is from his sophomore year. He was named All-State of Florida at LB, named the Palm Beach Post and the Ft. Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel Player of the Year.

He is not 5-11, he is 6-3 1/2 and 215

Anybody see a faster Carper in him? Nose for the ball, good in pass coverage, similar size and athleticism......
