Gotta think Jantz had a lot to do with us going after and getting this kid after Sed and Jennert left, and we really needed to get a receiver in this spring. We all know Sed just didn't cut it and Jennert was so thin I can't imagine him lasting very long. If this guy can get any kind of separation close to what he does in this film, he'll be a good addition.

Apparently I'm out of the loop... Jennert left?

Sed J and Donnie J are both members of the roster at Cyclones.com, as of five minutes ago. Mean anything? Are we dead certain, relatively certain, or just speculating that one or the other, or both, are gone?

Go to iastate.edu and search them as students in the directory. They are no longer there.

They are not registered for classes.
That would be an indicator.

That roster is not up to date. Still have players that should have graduated on it and players' classification have not progressed a year.

I dont blame Donnie J., he never got a shot when a lot of our WR's really sucked last year and he tore it up in the spring game.

I can understand the need to replace Sed and Jennert, so I don't have too much problem with this.

However, if you bring in 30 WR's, I'm sure you'll find a few that can actually play. Obviously I'm being somewhat sarcastic here, but you get the idea. You just cannot sign that many guys at any one position and still put together a TOTAL team.

I see a big problem of WR scouting on this coaching staff, and I also see a total lack of developing any of the guys we do have.

You always hear about how "so and so" is going to be a stud in the future for us, but then it doesn't happen. Sed never developed. Jennert looked all world in the spring game, but then never sees the field. Blanton was supposed to be surprising us as a true freshmen, but he's yet to do anything.

I just hope guys like Jarvis West, Albert Gary, and Young can contribute next year. I've heard the same great things about these guys too. Will they just be the next busts, or will they contribute?

I'm really starting to question our WR coach and our scouting ability.

@CloneDude

Funny thing is the WRs you mentioned were Chiziks recruits. I do disagree with the Horne commitment but give CPR another year or two to determine his WR scouting abilities.

how many WR recruit busts will be non contributors this fall? too bad, these wasted schoolies could have been better used

And that is why you are on a message board and not a D1 head football coach.

Paul has more riding on this than I do so I will trust him and his staff to know his team better than anyone on a message board.

Yeah, Rhoads sucks because he let Chiz recruit for a few years.

It is obvious to me that Steele Jantz highly reccomended this reciever.
How many games would have we won over the last three years if we could have
thrown and caught a pass more than 10 yards down the field.

We all know how our recievers dropped the ball to often, excluding Josh Lenz,
and the most of the stadium cringed in fear when the QB thrown the ball deep.

Adding the WR with hands that catch the ball,
and the balance to adjust his body to make the play,
is one step towards adding wins.

We need a few more defensive lines guys,
but there will be players that do not sign,
There will be players that tranfer out, or grades,
CPR will likely ask players that did not fit to move along,

My message to WR Aaron Horne,
welcome to being a Cyclone,
and hopefully we see plenty of 30 yard plays this year,

If the kinds of kids he brings in are half as exciting to watch play as he is to watch coach then we'll be in good shape.
