New Arrowhead?

Because the Legends/speedway area is better. More space. More accessible by interstates even though I realize everyone will end up on 435. If you build it in Olathe your talking 30 minutes south of downtown on a non-game day alone. Build it out by the speedway and you are 15 minutes from downtown, have tons of open space to build hotels and other entertainment.
Stadium is going to be in Wyandotte County. Training facilities, headquarters and a mixed use district will be in NW Olathe.

Having a dome, gets them the super bowl in the future, something the like has promised KC, but they had to have it built before the league would grant them the game. I would expect sometime this summer after all the T's have been crossed and everything is signed, the NFL will announce that KC will be hosting a SB around 2030 or so.
First Super Bowl to take place in a stadium that’s not even finished yet.

Why are building the team facility in Olathe? I don't get it. You have all that open land out there by Legends and the Edwardsville area. I realize a lot of players live in OP, Leawood, Mission Hills, and Mahomes built his place outside of Belton but damn. That's like DM having a team and putting the facility in Adel.

Nobody was staying by the stadiums anyways. Or at least nobody with half a brain was
Agreed but more will when the move happens. Legends is a nice area. Also the old Cerner campus right there is still sitting empty and ripe for mixed use development. Probably to big to just be a hotel but maybe one tower as a hotel and the other as apartments.

Are they still planning on putting it where Schlitterbahn was or the same side of 435 as the Speedway and soccer stadium? I cant keep up. That would be ideal.1000000227.png

Olathe gave them a sweet deal and apparently will be able to use the practice facility and the area for whatever they want when the chiefs aren't using it so I just answered my own question.

Oh 100%. They’re going to be able to build up a ton around the racetrack now.

I think that Cerner building got bought by Farmers Insurance. They had signage on that building the last time I was up that way a couple months ago. I had heard they were turning that into apartments but I guess not.

Basically everything around there for several miles is prairie. The sky is the limit. Well played KCMO.lmao. They deserve to lose the team

Ah I hadn't heard that. Haven't kept up since I moved. I worked in that building as an intern before it was completely finished, only the north building was completely open. The floor plan and floor to ceiling windows would be better off as nice apartments/condos than a barely used office building.

Jackson County voters had first dibs on this, and they voted no. After that, it was going to be very hard to have a deal in place in Missouri that didn't require voter approval that was going to beat what Kansas could offer with STAR bonds.

Wonder what domino falls now for the Royals.
Have to imagine MO desperately wants to keep them.

Here is what the Athletic is reporting about the move.

The move to Kansas — and an indoor stadium — opens up many additional avenues for the Chiefs. That includes hosting a Super Bowl. Team president Mark Donovan is on the NFL’s committee to select Super Bowl sites, and he has shared previous optimism that the Chiefs would be chosen should the team build a new indoor stadium.

The new stadium, which will be roughly 20 miles from Arrowhead, will be built in Wyandotte County, and a new team headquarters will be located in Olathe, Kan.

Their loss. The Missouri side of the metro is and will continue to be a dump. They refuse to invest in anything.

I'll be shocked if this actually happens.
They wouldn't even help pay for the Chiefs stadium. The Chiefs own that metro. You think they're going to help build the Royals one? These idiots don't even think there is anything wrong with the K. I'm slowly becoming happier knowing they're moving across the state line. It'll be better for both franchises.
