***NCAA Tournament: ISU vs. Lehigh Game Thread***

Anyone see the group of lehigh fans in section 134, bottom of the parquet? they had one guy who was completely ridiculous, lol

I want a recount. The lower level, less the south side and end floor seats, plus the upper levels on the sides have to be more than that.

There were 1,200 arena circle seats not available for these games. That's a large chunk right off the top.

Attendance would be better if you started the games at a reasonable hour of the day. All four sub regionals played tonight we in the central time zone (Minneapolis, Ames, Norman, and Austin) yet we start all the games at 6:00PM. Listening to Bill, ESPN sets the schedule, not the NCAA. You want attendance, don't allow ESPN to take their "break" from 4-6 to show World Series of Poker, or some toughman contest, start the next session of games at 4:00PM. Had our game started at 6:30, there would have been more people there, but when you tip off at 9:15PM, you are just asking to kill attendance. It amazes me that CBS runs games continually on Thursday and Friday of the first weekend, with about an hour break, yet ESPN can't seem to do the same thing.

Kind of a side note, but did anybody else find the UW-Green Bay mascot absolutely terrifying? For those that didn't get a chance to see this creature, here you are:

On a related note 'Phoenix' is really bad word to chant, cause it definitely sounds like something else.

Agreed. The start times for those last games were ridiculous. If ESPN is indeed settting the start times, the the NCAA ought to step in and work for some better start times.

From the athlete's standpoint, don't these kids have class on Monday? The game doesn't end until 11:30, then the adrenaline will keep you up for another 3 hours after that. Plus, if you have to travel, you basically end up traveling on Monday.

Just another indicator (to add to the thousands of others) that the NCAA is all about money, not the students.

I would have guessed 8,000 in attendance. Really hoping we get 10,000+ for Tuesday.
I was guessing more than 6,700, but it would be nice to have a 10K crowd for the next game Tuesday. It would look great on TV!!

There were only like 300 arena circle seats available from what I could see on tv. The rest were for the press and the bands. The parquet, if full, holds about 4500.....so that is only 4800 right there, plus whatever was in the balcony. Balcony sections are about 200 seats each.

I thought attendance was a little disappointing, but then students are just getting back from break, and the announcers did say it was the second largest first round attendance. Second only to Tennessee's game. I would have thought UCONN would have drawn better, but apparently not.

Hopefully more students will be there Tuesday night.
