I had heard there was discussion of cutting it to 16 teams and no audience, but gone.
This is tragic. The Hawkeyes are definitely getting robbed of a championship
Not really a surprise - not after every other sports league has suspended operations at this point.
How unlucky for us, we were definitely getting an at-large bid and nobody can prove otherwise.
I will say they are getting a decent season robbed. Sucks for them.
Not taking away from what we're not going to see over the next three weeks in all those basketball arenas, but they're kicking the spring championships as well. That means NO COLLEGE WORLD SERIES! That's a kick in the nuts too!
Major takeaway is the wording... Not postponed. Cancelled.
They afraid of us.
just forfeit the entire season. didn't happen.
This is just insane. I have no words.
Easily my favorite sporting event every year (even when we're not playing in it). Very sad, but almost certainly the right call.
Next... the Olympics in Japan. If the world can't figure this out by May/June, it is going to be cancelled too.
Robbed....Robbed...I'm telling you we got ROBBED.....LOL......
If anything, Prohm needs to find transfers for next year right NOW.
RIP One Shining Moment
Well, if there's any season for us not to be in it, I suppose...
But man, this really, really sucks. As others have already written, it's by far and away my favorite time of the year as a sports fan, especially as a college basketball junkie.
Grrrrrrrrrrr. I look forward to the WCWS every year. Next to March Madness, it's the very best NCAA championship.
No sports on tv is going to be really rough. I can only watch so much golf and NASCAR.
I wonder if our loss last night gets voided..
Isn’t NASCAR cancelled too this weekend?
