NBA: *** NBA Playoffs Thread V2.0 ***

Not to distract from the Bulls/Heat talk but, anyone watching the Spurs/Warriors game? Things are starting to get interesting.

Yeah, this GS team is young, and doesn't know how to play with a lead. It showed in the Denver series, and is showing more against a better team in the Spurs.

Warriors, if they can keep this team intact, are going to very good in the next few years. Very good. Young and still learning the game.

Looks like Miami, OKC, NY Knicks and San Antonio lost at home. All series are tied 1-1. Winners up for grabs.

I'll go ahead and ignore the opinion of someone who can't spell Derrick Rose's name right.

Can we imagine if this was LeBron doing what Rose is doing? Good lord people would be going after him. Had Rose been cleared recently I could understand but 3 months and practicing? I don't know, it just seems really weird.

I'm not happy about it, but if he can't play effectively because of a mental block I'd rather have Nate Robinson and Hinrich when healthy play. Sure I wish he'd play though.

And I could understand that, but I don't get not even giving it a go, at least in the first round. See what happens. Maybe he gets out there and after a few minutes that block goes away or starts to dissolve.

I guess, but at this point I think they have a game plan to try to stop the heat and it's going to take all the chemistry and luck they've built up over the season. Adding Rose might affect the flow of the game. Though after yesterdays loss it's hard to say there's any flow left.

Coach T from Bulls: [discussing Rose] "Let me ask you something. If you had to go into battle, would you want him with you?" former Bull Stacey King, "I don't know, I just don't know" It's an attempt to quote Top Gun regarding Maverick, comparing him to Rose. "get him up flying" Gotta get thru the mental block somehow.

People are putting a bit too much stock in a team doctor "clearing" Rose to play. Penny Hardaway and Gilbert Arenas were "cleared" by team doctors too yet they returned too early and ruined their careers.

He has supposedly been practicing and playing well it in

Even if that's the case, NBA practices and games are two different animals. Just ask Allen Iverson. I'm surprised at the number of Bulls fans calling out Rose for not playing. I don't follow the team all that closely, but I would think that he's built up enough equity within the organization and city over the past five years to not get raked over the coals if he's not mentally up to playing after the knee injury. And the argument about AP coming back eight months after a similar injury is ludicrous. That AP's season was such a big deal only proves him as the exception to the rule.

You think those two guys I mentioned didn't practice before they played?

You know what likely isn't happening at practice? I'm guessing Noah isn't putting Rose on his backside when he drives to the rim.

If Rose was a better jump shooter I could see bringing him in and letting him ease into it. However, he's not a great jump shooter and the strength of his game is attacking the basket with his athleticism.

In theory, I like the idea of giving Rose Teague's minutes which would allow him to ease himself into it. However, I don't really trust Thibs to keep his Corvette in the garage for long stretches in the game.

And you'd be right. At first. Then a few weeks after being cleared by the doctors to play, you'll start to get a few puzzled looks. A few months after being cleared by the doctors to play, combined with the rest of your team playing through pain in the playoffs, people can, and should, turn on you.

then trade him. I'm sure there will be plenty of interest from other teams willing to take him off the Bulls hands.

The rest of the team is not franchise players. Losing Rose would set the bulls back 5 years easily.
