NBA: NBA Off-season Thread

West

3) Oklahoma City (loaded doesnt seem to do them justice not sure Kanter is a winning player though so that could leave a Center hole)
4) Clippers (they'll figure something out for a Center)
5) Memphis
6) Houston (an injury or two away from falling out all together)
7) Utah (a full season with this teams roster will be amazing on Defense especially if Exum keeps improving)
8) Dallas
9) New Orleans (season kind of hinges on Holiday being healthy, Davis for MVP)
10) Phoenix
11) Sacramento
12) Lakers
13) Timberwolves (will improve a lot, but the season after is the break out year. Hopefully they can trade Pek yet)
14) Denver
15) Portland

The 7-10 seeds are pretty interchangeable, amazing how good the West is year after year.

East
1) Cleveland
2) Atlanta (loss of carroll will hurt pretty bad, but still good enough to hold off the bulls because of injury concerns)
3) Chicago (a trade has to be coming to loosen the post glut right?)
4) Miami (if wade is healthy for say 65 games or more they are pretty darn good at every position)
5) Washington
6) Indiana (no post starters at all on this roster unless PG is now permanent power foward). Ellis seems like a bad fit.
7) Milwaukee (probably one of the few that isnt a big fan of the Monroe signing, but if Parker is ready to be a stud then they are easily in)
8) Boston (seems like a team that will make a big trade in season and improve a lot)
8) Toronto (they seem to have lost their mojo and will fall out of the playoffs)
10) Charlotte
11) Orlando (probably a big time player a way from being a great team yet) A Gordon is going to be a good one
12) Detroit
13) Nets (if Johnson trade goes through this roster is in trouble)
14) New York (nice B level pick ups, should be able to swing for 30 wins)
15) Philadelphia (hopefully the last year of the tank job)

You have houston twice and no Phoenix.
 
Spurs getting David West for $1.5 million. Definitely the favorites to win it all now. West is all class, don't know many people who would take a $10.5 million paycut for a chance at a championship.

There is no way they are actually the vegas favorites. This might push them over the Warriors but it won't close the gap on the Cavs, unless vegas books thought West was definitely going to CLE before this.

I am jealous that they got West on that cheap deal and I was hoping the Cavs would get him, but he won't have that type of effect.

Where you hearing it from? Between surgery, fading role even with Thibs, and Hoiberg coming in it makes sense, just I'm a bit out of the loop now not being in Chi anymore.

Even with no roster moves just knowing Hoiberg well Mirotic and McD are going to see a lot more PT. As long as Noah and Gasol are healthy it's not going to be at their expense.

The Spurs are definitely going to be a load, it's pretty incredible and hard not to cheer for. Other great teams of the past 20-30 years all seem like they were in a desperate race to blow things up in comparison.
 
West

1) Spurs - Skilled veterans with a bit of athleticism by some young guys. Also coached by the best coach in the league.
2) Warriors - Defending champs held onto their pieces, but didn't really gain anything either.
3) Rockets - One of the best rosters in the league. Core group has meshed.
4) Thunder - Depth is an issue, but two offensive superstars can help overcome that.
5) Grizzlies - The players on roster fit what they try to do well.
6) Mavericks - Lost key pieces, but gained new ones. Will take time to mesh.
7) Clippers - Depth is still an issue, but starters are very good.
8) Pelicans - Anthony Davis separates them from teams 9-11
9) Jazz - Pieces are there. Just need to wait and let them develop.
10) Timberwolves - Missing a few pieces, but very close. Need to let players develop.
11) Kings - New additions will not work together.
12) Suns - Tyson Chandler is not the solution to their problem.
13) Trail Blazers - Lillard is too good for tank mode.
14) Lakers - Missing a star player. Plenty of good role players though.
15) Nuggets - Good thing weed is legal in Colorado.


East
1) Cavaliers - Best team in the east by far when healthy. Kept their pieces.
2) Heat - Core group works well together. Pat Riley is a genius.
3) Hawks - Core group remains, but no new pieces to make them stand out.
4) Bulls - Need time to mesh under new coach and new system. Still very talented.
5) Raptors - Division winners! Not better than teams 6-8.
6) Bucks - Young players get a year older, and a year better. Still a few years away from contending.
7) Wizards - Not quite sure what is holding this team back. Need another piece somewhere.
8) Pistons - A full year under SVG will help the players in the system. New additions get them here.
9) Hornets - They can't shoot. Barium will help, but he's not a guy that you can depend on every night.
10) Celtics - Point guard city takes a step back as the rest of the conference improves.
11) Magic - Much like Jazz and Timberwolves, need to let pieces develop.
12) Pacers - Whar post players?
13) Nets - That trade with the Celtics turned out so bad.
14) Knicks - Long ways away. Keep tanking Phil.
00000000000) 76ers - Until the 76ers start trying to win basketball games again I will pretend they don't exist.
 
It sounds like Chris Babb might get traded to Golden State as part of the David Lee deal. Not sure if that is good or bad for him, but I know that Brad Stevens liked him.

We'll know in about 48 hours if he is cut or not I'd assume.
 
News and rumors for the Clippers.....

Wes Johnson has been signed at the veteran's minimum!

Possible trade with Cleveland could happen with Jamal Crawford being sent to Cleveland while Cavs would give up Brendan Haywood.

Clippers would wave Haywood to sign FA Javale McGee.

He was decent for the Wizards when he was with them from what I remember, hasn't done much lately though
