NBA Draft 2014

Congrats to Marble! What an accomplishment!

Not surprised seeing Kane and Ejim go undrafted, but they will both be playing basketball for a long time.

As usual, there is a high level of NBA noobetry and butthurt on this board

Little surprised they were not taken in the 2nd round.....for a guy to lead the big 12 in scoring and rebounding, not drafted, a little surprising. Guess if he was 2 inches taller, he would have been a 1st rounder.

Hopefully Fred can find them a good match for the next few years.

Kane and Ejim will get to decide who they want to go to now as Free Agents.

Kane would be a great pick up for the Bulls since they need some backup PG help.

Ejim on the Spurs or Hawks would be great in my opinion.

Color me shocked that no NBA team wanted to use a draft pick on a guy in his mid 20's that has had character concerns.

There are a good amount of players that did not get drafted that had been in mocks for months:

Jahii Carson, James Mcadoo, Patric Young, Jabari Brown, Sean Kilpatrick, CJ Fair, and Kane and Ejim.

Argh, now I have to listen to Iowa fans and Eastern Iowa sports reporters talk about amazing Marble is because he drafted for the next week...puke.

You know, with all of whajt's being said here, my only thought is "I'm disappointed for our guys, that they didn't get to hear their names called". THAT is what sucks to me. I believe they will have a chance as free agents, but dammit, I wanted them to get that thrill.

I cannot agree with this more. Kids don't care about the best situation, they want to be rewarded to confirm all the hard work paid off and hear there name called on the national stage.

I'm not saying it is or isn't, but with all of Fred's GM connections he's had 1 player drafted (White). Did that experience of promoting White sour his relationships around the league?

Either way, I hope both can make it. However if I'm Kane and have to choose $50,000 to play in the D league or $200.000 to play in Europe - unfortunately I don't think we see either in the NBA.

Those character concerns were present after his father died. As it's apparent now (to those that don't have an agenda), Kane acted out of character previously. If you don't understand that, you're a trolling moron. I guess I kinda went full circle there, didn't I.

I think it says more to what the NBA has become and why I watch very little of it now. The NBA is the ultimate bottom line league. Why should I pick someone up who will just cost me more money to win, when I can put "X" on the table, collect my money and become mediocre.

I think it was emphasized tonight when they kept talking about the Bulls and how everyone fits in with Rose. Not one thing from that guy, day one, says he's going to be there at the end of next season. I know he's the franchise player and all according to the NBA experts, but the guy has yet to play a full season without being hurt. His recent history to me, says this year will be worse than the last, so we might want to think about another franchise player instead of conserving for the cap.

One thing this draft made me realize was how glad I am the World Cup was this year. I now have another pro sport to pay attention to other than the NBA.

Your logic makes no sense. If teams were just concerned about the bottom line they would sign a lot more second round picks since those guys come cheaper than any veteran.

There are two things that can make a player almost undraftable. Being a tweener and being old. Unfortunately Ejim is a major tweener and Kane is really old. .

Several tweeners taken before Ejim. 6'6" / 6'7" small forwards

You do know why the fighting gingers blew sky high last season don't you?

Of course you don't.

Whats that tell us then?

Since he was the best nba range 3 point shooter at his position at the combine and near the top in last year's NCAA season, along with getting near 10 boards a game two years in a row…those teams taking short forwards over him probably thought his ball handling skills were a killer.

People aren't necessarily 'noobs' for thinking Kane would be drafted, there was a lot of talk about him going in a wide variety of spots. Ejim appeared on most draft boards when he lit up the combine shooting…which anyone who saw him shoot last year should have expected…then he disappeared from them. All 3 players from Iowa and ISU had been falling down draft boards since after the combine for whatever reason.

Still not drafted. Nor was Kane. The NBA knows who can play and who cannot.

Nothing wrong with D Leaguers. .
