Nancy Guthrie Abduction

First thing that came to my mind is how common it is in Mexico for kidnaping for money or Cartel related activities. We used to go to Mexico every winter but it was getting so sketchy down there that we go to Florida now. This appears to be a lone wolf situation but I would not describe him as a dumb rookie, going on three weeks with lots of pressure on our best Federal agents to solve the crime.

3 Weeks with the FBI as you pointed out and whole nations attention. If he kidnaps someone else there's probably a good chance he never gets caught. Ultimately I think he will.

I read this a lot and wonder why people think it was so poor planned? He's been unidentified going into a 3rd week now and we also don't know whole scope yet. I've seen some experts that believe he staged the Nest footage.

In today's world with everything being accessible digitally it's hard to plan something like if not impossible which is a good thing. I wouldn’t underestimate this guy though
He didn't get any money and he dropped evidence. I don't think he ever had much of a real plan. I'm not shocked he hasn't been caught yet. They may have someone in mind but it takes quite a bit to get a warrant to search someone's phone/electronic type stuff. Only a matter of time now.

I have a friend in KC who had to wire the cartel money in Mexico or they were going to kill her son in KC. 10k and she didn't dare tell the police. Needless to say he's still alive.

If he's not already in CODIS there is a high probability a relative of his has a geneology tree somewhere online. It might take a little longer to track it back but he's ******

What evidence did he drop? There's s lot of differing reports but I don't think there's any conclusive evidence that points to an individual yet. The DNA at the scene could be a game changer

We're still not sure he was after money the Ransom letters haven't been proven to be legitimate and nothing was taken from the home.

They have DNA from the glove from my understanding. They know its male DNA as of right now. Multiple gloves near the house is what I saw last night.

Ok maybe but the way I understand it is that they're saying that glove found was same type of gloves used and now it's being tested for a match. I'm not sure they know who's it is but there was a article about all the differing gloves the journalist found in same area. It's possible it's just an unconnected glove.

Needless to say?! I thought it was the most important part and I didn't know the answer. Holy crap.

It's of interest partly because it is so rare. Most abductions are family related. Abductions by strangers for ransom (assumed) are very rare in the USA despite the crime stories featured on 20/20 and Nightline that would lead people to think we are all just a coin flip away from being snatched up by roaming bands of ciminals.
I’ll give you “partly”…. but 95% of it is because of who her daughter is.

The big bad Mexican cartel has entered the chat LOL

But on that note every once and a while I get a text or a call from the "cartel" telling me I need to pay them a fine or they are going to kill me and my family. Should I be worried and stop responding with a picture of me flipping them off?

I usually prefer to give them Liam Neeson’s response from Taken. Shockingly they usually don’t call back.

Wow. How did it all play out?

I'm starting to think this might be cartel related.
She had a delinquent son who was involved in drugs and he owed them some money. She had to Western Union 10k somewhere Mexico. Next time it happens she says she letting him die. He was living with her at the time and a few days earlier they shot about 5 rounds into her house. They weren't ******* around.
