Mowing the Lawn in December?

I planted seed in early oct and did not want to mow it until the spring. All my neighbors trimmed there lawns down and mine looks like a shag carpet. Just waiting for snow so I don’t have to cringe every time I pull in the driveway

Mow at 3 inches. If you want to chop leaves you can raise it slightly from there and not cut grass but mulch leaves. Mowing grass shorter would hurt it. Raise it a bit on height and you are just mulching leaves.

Terrible for the root system but people have to keep up with the Joneses. My lawn in December probably closer to a Cousin Eddie lawn.
I'm with you on the cousin Eddie lawn. I last mowed the week of Thanksgiving and put my mower away and called it good - my neighbors have mowed at least twice since then and it's pissing me off!

I plan to mow one more time. We have tons of big old trees, and already did one big leaf raking/blowing. But these trees hang on to their leaves until late.

But yeah, it'll be mostly for leaves. I don't think I mowed in Nov at all, and probably not much in Oct.

that reminds me I need to run my mower out of gas and put it away for the season

I've had gas in my two stage snow blower going on two year now. I put a shut off valve on it and let it run til the carb was out of gas. When to start it last week, primed it 5x and it started on the first pull. I was pretty pleased with that. I have a can of Sea Foam, but have never used it yet.

Sea Foam is a great fuel stabilizer.
