DM needs new scenery. They should have extended him last Spring, and now he just needs to move on to somewhere else.

Let’s put it this way. If you’re the Vikings d coordinator and week one you play the bears and week two you play the rams. How do you approach scheming for each game? For the bears, you load the box. You play man on Mooney with a safety over the top and you spy fields. That’s not a tough scheme.
As it stands with the rams, you triple team kupp, you have a LB on higbee and you play Arob man and have a safety over the top (49ers did this all last game) and you live with what the rest of the get.
If you put Montgomery on the rams, all of the sudden they have another weapon where they can attack a defense. Does your LB crew focus on David or stay on higbees hip? Do you stack the box to stop David knowing that kupp can destroy you? What do you do?
you can’t compare Mooney to Arob. Mooney is the top bears wr threat (maybe better described as the bears only wr threat). Arob is literally the rams forth best… that’s an apples to oranges comparison. Higbee is head and shoulders above any TE the bears can march out on the field.

I don't agree. I think its an upgrade to see if the QB1 can throw.
I'm not too excited about DM going anywhere that helps him much. Not even sure where itd be now that he's viewed as second best in Chitown. Plus he's on my team and its not helping.
Good thing is he will surely be on another team next year one way or another. Bears won’t resign him in the middle of a rebuild.
DM should find a better spot for him pretty easily, I think some contender would appreciate his combination of running and pass blocking.
Hes probably a little better than guys like Pettis and Pringle, but they essentially traded Roquan for him straight up as i saw they gave up the exact same pick they just got from Baltimote.

I would hear the talk every august and just be flabbergasted that everybody expected to be good for reasons I could not decipher. It's unavoidable and the SNL skit has a bit of truth in there. It's like living in Lincoln and trying to not follow Nebraska football. I wasn't a fan but I got to know it all much better than I cared to.

I think if the price is right the Bears may re-sign him. I think they like him but it would have to be at the right price for them. Not sure if David will get that so-called "big" offer from another team so a return to the Bears is a possibility.
Yeah, but I'm not sure it's relevant to an NFL trade discussion. It was funny that the poster listed two personal financial factors in the value of the potential trade for Montgomery. Like, who cares if the taxes and housing are high in California? The cherry on top is that he would be coming from Chicago, not exactly the cheapest place to live.
It's a factor when trying to lure a free agent, not when discussing the potential trade of a player whom none (maybe a couple) of us know personally.
There's some backs that have made decent careers as journeymen/backups. Is the thing that keeps that happening for some pride/contract negotiation?
Bears talk is just the worst. Add in the Rams and we have ourselves the shiftiest thread currently running on CF.
If they didn’t trade him it means 1) the Bears weren’t going to fire sale him and will offer him a second contract or 2) there was no market for him. Seems #1 is most likely because if you don’t plan on resigning, why not get something for him.
