Monte invited to Pan-Am Games tryouts

first ever in a basketball thread...please let this happen :)

Sounds like it could be a great opportunity for him. Good luck Monte!

Is there a list of all the players trying out?

The tryouts will include professional players not under contract and returning college players. Team USA will be coached by Gonzaga's Mark Few. Colorado's Tad Boyle and former NBA coach Mike Brown will be assistants.

Couldn't find any names of players.

This is the 2011 team, that got 3rd. Because the games were at the end of October, only D-League players were on the team, and all coaches were from the D-League.

This is the 2007 team, that got 5th. This team was all college players and coaches.

Good for him and the team if he makes it. Will give him more experience vs better competition, plus even more confidence. Good publicity for the team as well.

Great opportunity for Monte. Monte being able to play against the top college players in the summer along with getting some coaching under Few, Boyle, and Brown in practice should help him take his next step in game. Hope he has a good try out and makes the cut but even if not he'll get a lot out of the tryout.
BTW the Foreign trip the team gets to take should help him and the team get a jump on the season too.

COME ON MERICA!

Great, not Boyle is getting some first hand scouting on Monte for November 13th :jimlad:

So...if Monte gets the PG spot, and America wins...then Monte == Jordan? I'll buy that :-)

Way to go Monte! Way to represent young man! Do they usually televise this on one of the ESPN's? Can't wait for July!! :)

Looks like the roster for who else is trying out was released. Some pretty good players there should be interesting to see if Monte makes it. Anyone know what's the criteria for playing or trying out for the pan am games? I thought it was for college players so I was surprised to see pro guys on the list.
