Momcilovic declares for NBA draft

2nd round pays $1.25-$2M and I think the years are negotiable 3-4 years with lessor guarantee.

I’m guessing that is a workable number at ISU.

It gives him a year to get to the first round without locking him into a 3-4 yr deal at $1.5-$2m…if he gets to the 1st round it’s $2.7+ with more guarantee.

I really hope they get that mess cleaned up and banned

The problem is the foreign players not being regulated the same, which has been the argument the have used in court. They are playing professionally before coming over and get full eligibility. It puts American born players at a huge disadvantage. I don’t think there is a way to put the toothpaste back in the tube.

Huh? Most top college players have agents now. I would guess he already has an agent and has for a couple years.
They would have to opt back for college about a week after the draft combines...and terminate the agent contract to do so.

I don't doubt that Milan will end up testing the NBA waters, but the way this story broke is weird. Busse gets this quote from Milan more than two weeks ago, then sits on it for all this time and finally posts it today as an exclusive, breaking news story? Which apparently Milan did not know would be happening because he (kinda sorta) refuted it to Hines?
Busse sucks

It makes sense that he would sit on the story until after we were out of the tournament out of respect to him (and I think williams has done the same with players in the past, especially those transferring out) , but he probably should have shot a "hey, still feeling the same about testing the waters in the draft?" text before publishing

Is he in-in, or is this a testing the waters and could come back?
There isn’t a difference any more. There’s just a date, in May I think, that you have to announce if you are coming back by.

My opinion is that it’s probably 70/30 that he comes back - and has specific things (rebounding, play making) to work on.

I'm not an Iowa fan. Not even ******* close. That's what's funny about all this. I'm just not a myopic ISU fan. There are tons of people who think some of the comments on this board are ridiculous. I just call them out. Id probably have an account on an Iowa board if I did. Its cool. I take nothing personally. I've always said what I thought here and encourage everyone to do the same

Just my opinion, but I think it's a smart move on his part. He's not going to have a better season next year. At least not shooting-wise. I think that he's improved quite a bit defensively. I'd hate to see him guarding NBA 2's, but he can stay in front of 3's some. Every team needs a sniper off the bench and that is what he'd be. Kyle Korver spend a lot of years in the league with that skill set.

As far as ISU is concerned, of course we'd like to know one way or the other ASAP. If he's staying in the draft, that takes our three biggest salaries off the books. We should be able to be pretty competitive in the portal.

The problem is Milan is not going to improve his draft staus staying another year. Hes already proved his shooting ability. His limitations are his athletic ability which is not going to take a leap in one more year of college. An NBA team will sign him this year knowing this.
Between him being another year older, being maxed out when it comes to being the best shooter at this level, along with now other teams doubling him off every screen next year I feel the correct move will be for him to go pro. At worst he's going to get a 2way contract.

I want the clones to be as good as we can be and that is with MM on the roster but have to be proud that this program keeps producing pro talent.
I believe that is most likely true, unless he would totally go off next year, this is as good as he can get which means a 2nd round draft pick. If his grade is 2nd round pick, then he would be better off coming back to college for another year. Because he can make as much if not more NIL than what his salary will be in the NBA or the G league.
This is going to be a loaded freshman class in the draft pushing very good players like Milan down further than what they normally would be, another reason for him to return another year.
