Missouri Joining Big Ten Rumor

I'm thinking its just another one of those "rumblings". I'm not quite sure Arkansas would want to come to the Big XII. The blog said something about old rivalries with Big XII members. Does anyone know more about this?

You are not familiar with the legendary rivalry between the Razorbacks and Cyclones?????

The rivalry would be Texas vs Arkansas.....because we all know, the only thing the Big 12 cares about are the Texas schools.

I would assume with it's old conference foes like the Texas schools, but I am sure they are craving to start a rivalry with Iowa State.

That was a lot of replys in the same minute for it being 12:33am

Arkansas was in the Southwest Conference with Texas and TCU and SMU and all of those bad boys from the '80's, if I recall correctly. So it was kind of a big deal when that conference went down in flames.

This is garbage. If you read down to the end of the blog, GO BULLS! is the last line. This person is just posturing to get USF into a better conference and flaming rumors to try and get it moving in that direction.

Arkansas would lose money and FB TV exposure coming to the Big 12. Plus to be rivals with the old SWC foes they'd have to be in the south not the north. Guess you could bump OSU into the north, but I doubt they want that to happen either.

For the love of Christ, I'm sick and tired of talk about teams changing conferences due to a stretch of good or bad football. People starting this **** are ********, pure and simple.

Why wouldn't OSU want to come to the North? I mean, for at least 4-5 years until Chizik get's ISU's **** together, they would own the North - championship game every year.

As much as I would like to see the Razorbacks in the Big XII I really don't see it happening (although they would be a good fit from a geographic standpoint).

As for the Razorback rivalries, the Hog fans and media were giddy about the home and home recently with Texas and almost went into mourning down here when the series ended. They really don't have a clear cut rivalry in the SEC that stands out.

As I said, I don't see them jumping ship for another conference but I guess if it were to happen the chances might be slighty (very slightly) higher with Broyles on the way out.

I guess I'm kind of surprised that nothing's developed between Arkansas and LSU. It's a border war, and it's not like they're brimming with natural rivalries in the SEC West either (kind of hard when you've got Ole' Miss, Miss St, Alabama, and Auburn in your division). I don't know - to me it seems the rivalries in the SEC East are more collective (Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, South Carolina, Vanderbilt kind of the oddball out, although that's probably due to lack of success in virtually any sport) whereas in the West it's more paired.

If it did happen the Big 12 could go east vs west teams. That way they could get OU and Texas in the title game.

East West
ISU CU
KU kNu
Ark KSU
Texas OU
A&M OSU
Baylor TT

Also we could keep playing Mizzou every year with a three year rotation of home and home and a game at Arrowhead. That way we have two good non-big 12 games

Did they check out the academics for Missouri versus the Big Ten? Oh, Missouri is better?

Guess Notre Dame will be The One after they lose their NBC contract. ND plays USC this weekend and both need a big win.

OK...since wild, baseless speculation is rampant, how 'bout...

Mizzou to the Big Ten/11/12.

Notre Dame to the (real) Big 12 North, with NBC/Universal as the media outlet (NBC as the dedicated broadcast network, games on USA, and NBC/Universal producing the Big 12 network).

The conference could be called The Texas, Notre Dame, and Friends Conference...

EDIT: Stoops would be hissed, better revise...
The UT, OU, ND and Friends Conference...
