How would he have known for sure what happened to her before they killed her?
What? He testified he was driving them around, they found her, man with knife got out, they put body in trunk, then they forced him to dump her in cornfield.

I hope it's all bullcrap. This is nightmarish stuff if it's true.

Agree....i get it could be the defense doing their job....but then there is that 'or what if there IS truth" and this is a future netflix crime doc vibe?

You're the one calling "********".
You missed the operative ‘or’. Maybe the state withheld exculpatory evidence or maybe there are more simple explanations. We haven’t heard the state’s side on any of this.

I can’t look right now but wasn’t it reported that Mollie didn’t have any signs of sexual assault?

IIRC they weren’t really able to determine whether she was or not because the body had been in the field for so long and had decomposed?

I believe the boyfriend testified that they'd also had consensual sex the night before/the morning of.

How just completely sure some people here and on social media are of his guilt, given some really strange circumstances and a just overall something isn't right here feel, makes me really rethink my in general pro death penalty stance.

I’m against capital punishment but that doesn’t bear on my view there is a tremendous amount of evidence pointing to guilt:

1 - he told an investigator ’i did it’
2 - he led investigators to the body and told them he was the only person who could do so.
3 - his car was seen circling the area
4- her dna was in his trunk
5 -he told no one his ‘story’ until taking the stand three years later
Occam’s razor isn’t a legal principle of course but it impacts how i weigh the evidence here.

Perhaps I've missed it but this "trap house" that keeps getting brought up - has it been established that this is in fact a trap house and the owner is in fact a sex trafficker?

I believe that part was confirmed.

It'll also be interesting to see if the inmate who admitted to it was even in the area or out of prison during the incident.

I believe that part was confirmed.

The defense alleged an ‘investigation’ into a sex house in New Sharon. I looked up the name associated with it and there are only burglary/drug type charges. I haven’t seen anything (outside of a possible inmate statement) confirming a sex trafficking operation associated with the area.

You are correct, I may have misread that a bit.

According to court documents filed Tuesday, a search warrant obtained by the defense “corroborates the ‘trap house’ account” made by the inmate.

Thinking about this- Her cell phone said she was out running and people knew she was- so how was she bound and gagged at a trap house previously? None of this makes sense the more u think about it

Many people I know from the Montezuma/Poweshiek area believe the mother may have sold the kid. The Tibbetts case is wierd. Two different people testifying the same person admitting to the murder. Rivera claimed that two men busted into his house and already had Mollie. The Maki fellow said that "inmate two" had an accomplice. Weird case.

No Amber Alert for this case, particularly in light of the one from a couple nights ago that seems poorly executed, struck me as odd. I suppose nobody saw him get taken, but still.
They don't issue Amber Alerts for missing children. Must be confirmed abduction with descriptive detail of child, abductor or suspect vehicle.

The Amber Alert they issued last month turned out to be neither an abduction, nor did they have the details of the car right, or even the timing of the non-abduction. [shrug emoji]
