Isn't the criteria the same everywhere? They still had to get permission from the POTUS to issue the order in that case.
This says each state sets its own, although most follow DOJ guidelines closely.

What are the criteria for issuing AMBER Alerts?
Each state AMBER Alert plan includes its own criteria for issuing AMBER Alerts. The PROTECT Act, passed in 2003, which established the role of AMBER Alert Coordinator within the Department of Justice, calls for the Department of Justice to issue minimum standards or guidelines for AMBER Alerts that states can adopt voluntarily. The Department's Guidance on Criteria for Issuing AMBER Alerts is as follows:

  • There is reasonable belief by law enforcement that an abduction has occurred.
  • The law enforcement agency believes that the child is in imminent danger of serious bodily injury or death.
  • There is enough descriptive information about the victim and the abduction for law enforcement to issue an AMBER Alert to assist in the recovery of the child.
  • The abduction is of a child aged 17 years or younger.
  • The child's name and other critical data elements, including the Child Abduction flag, have been entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) system.
Most states' guidelines adhere closely to the Department of Justice's recommended guidelines.

I’m against capital punishment but that doesn’t bear on my view there is a tremendous amount of evidence pointing to guilt:

1 - he told an investigator ’i did it’
2 - he led investigators to the body and told them he was the only person who could do so.
3 - his car was seen circling the area
4- her dna was in his trunk
5 -he told no one his ‘story’ until taking the stand three years later
Occam’s razor isn’t a legal principle of course but it impacts how i weigh the evidence here.
I think he’s probably guilty but that doesn’t mean there still aren’t legitimate questions. It isn’t the defenses job to prove the other scenario. I’m thinking there’s probably enough for the conviction but I wouldn’t bet very much money on exculpatory evidence not coming out.

I think it's more likely he had coconspirators than 2 random masked men showing up in a remote field at his trailer with a body or person in their trunk. But I feel like the most likely is he just acted alone and killed her on her jog.

Did anybody watch the hearing today? They dropped all of the names in the recent evidence brought up. They also claimed that one of those persons is involved in the Montezuma boy's case. He was apparently arrested two days after the kid went missing. Unbelievable.

As the state immediately turned over the inmate statements to the defense team and offered to pause the trial and the defense declined because the statements were ‘inconsistent’, i dont think the motions for new trial next week will have much legs.

Maybe things got more consistent after a second person also made the same claims?

The question next week is whether the state withheld evidence. It doesn’t appear that they did. The defense went forward with their defense theory after being made aware of this information by the state.

The second new witness, Jones' ex-girlfriend, told a local sheriff's office that she was in a car with Jones a month earlier when he said, "That Mexican shouldn’t be in jail for killing Mollie [Tibbetts] because I raped her and killed her," according to Iowa News Now.
If this is true....

Why the flying **** would you say that to your (presumed at the time) girlfriend?!

Legal crap aside. Something doesn’t seem right here.
You could be right that some of this stuff could be linked. But there are other explanations. Mental illness in the inmate population is incredibly high. None of this New Sharon ‘trap house’ stuff actually led to charges along those lines.

I feel like 3% of jailhouse confessions are ever true

Just so I got Bahena’s story straight -

3 years after the woman was murdered, Bahena decided to make it known Bahena is the victim, Bahena was kidnapped in our own car by two people, one of them went by “JACK,” “coincidentally” also Mollie’s boyfriends name.

And now we’re making connections between her and a sex traffic ring? We think she could’ve been a part of a sex traffic ring despite having zero evidence of sexual assault?

Or are we saying Mollie went for a run, was kidnapped, taken to the ring, murdered without any sexual assault, then they go out of the way to go see Bahena, kidnap Bahena, have him dispose of the body and bank on him not telling any authorities because they will kill his child and baby mom? In the same ******* night?

Dude deserves life in prison and I’m not even 100% convinced he murdered her but solely because his punk ass has been lying this entire case.
