Anyone catch Iowa's Metcalf's actions when he walked off mat after final meet yesterday. He was grinning and making a jerking off motion. What a DB. Of course soon after that Gable had to criticize Varner for being cocky as he was "clapping" towrds the Iowa bench after his victory.

Metcalf shouldnt have done it. Varner doing stuff after he beat a 184 pound back up who wrestled up to 197 by a simple decision....and while his team is betting abused is even more ridiculous and down right hilarious.

It's already been proven through Metcalf's career that he has no respect for his opponents and lacks any resemblance of sportsmanship.

maybe...and its proven ISU fans whine and whine about not beating Iowa....and if you look at it again you'll see Metcalf didnt do that action towards the ISU bench or coaches....he was facing the Iowa bench so the ISU team never even saw it

I agree with your previous point, fans here are obsessed with Iowa and any little action - notably obsessed with how "mean" the Iowa wrestling team is. Who cares. If we were on the good side of this, fans would be loving how little mercy we were showing to Iowa when dominating them.

I do agree with the premise that some of the actions Iowa displays don't have a ton of class, but it's easy to focus on these insignificant things as a way to displace the frustration with getting dominated by Iowa wrestling.

So he jerked on his teammates? :biglaugh:

I've heard stories about this except it wasn't simulated. This was years ago.

You know why Varner did that, right?

It was retaliation. Mocking your coaching staff, that did the exact same thing only much more exagerated toward Long and the ISU coaching staff after the championship match at Midlands.

I think Metcalf (or any athlete) should keep from planning their locker room celebrations until well after their competition has ended and they are away from the playing surface.

Wasn't it Metcalf that was furious last year when the guy from NC State did the backflip when he beat him in the championship?

In his defense backflips are extremely obscene and are very offense to some. They go way beyond a jerk off motion. Varner's actions were wrong but Metcalf goes way beyong that. I think when wrestling Iowa, we should start a new practice. After every match, win or lose, keach wrestler should head over the match and shake everyones hand. I think that would really bother the Brands.

You have no idea what you are talking about. Doing a backflip after winning a NC (or any big match really) has been done before, a lot. Usually they wait until after shaking hands though. I do agree with your last point though:)

I feel like Metcalf would say something like "I must break you" in a Dolph voice.

Sarcasm man, I didn't think I need to throw the pirate out for that.
