For anyone who cares, a source from inside the football team has told me that Alton Meeks has moved to mike linebacker (middle linebacker). Barring a JUCO recruit, sounds like it will be him or Kane Seeley replacing Jeremiah George.

Are we even recruiting any JUCOs at linebacker? I'd personally rather develop the young backers now rather than bring in a JUCO.

Thanks for info, I know he is up to 260 and can move on his feet.

Haven't heard anything regarding linebackers. Would be shocked if we did, we are relatively young at the position. Would think the JUCO targets would be defensive backs and defensive lineman.

I wonder if he stays there after the offseason. Rhoads mentioned on a call in show that he's up to 260 and his body may have more room for growth. He could end up a d-lineman.

Meeks has looked good in terms of size and athleticism. Hope this year has been loaded with development for him.

A few years with Meeks and Knott will be nice. And if the recruit from Wisconsin is anything like Klein, things are taking shape nicely.

I have heard that there is a possibility that he moves to defensive end, but right now it isn't likely as they want him at middle linebacker.

Which is awesome. If he is fast enough to be able to drop into coverage when need be having a bigger guy back there who can take on linemen directly would be awesome.

I still hope they grab a JUCO LB to push Brackens and Knott/Miller. Maybe even take their spot. I don't have a huge amount of confidence in the LBs being much better if at all next season. DL has to be better though baring injury so maybe that will be the difference. Of course, with a very young secondary next season (No seniors at all), we can't rely on them to be huge run stoppers like Washington and Broomfield.

I like the idea of a bigger Middle Linebacker. I would rather error on the side of someone who is bigger and can get off blocks against the run, as opposed to smaller and faster, considering the amount of tackles our LB's make with an undersized DLine.

Hopefully, he comes in and is another cerebral, tough, Burnham mold Linebacker.

If he is that quick and good on his feet in coverage, why would you want to stick him on the line?

He early enrolled as well, so next year will be his second spring practice, and he's been in the strength program for an extra 6 months. Should pay dividends next year with him and Knott on the field, we should have a good 1-2 punch!
