MBB Struggles

We need to stop over helping. Leaves wide open shooters
Our style of defense was a good strategy when TJ first got the job and didn't have a lot of talent. I'm not sure if its the best strategy at this point of his ISU tenure.

I have no idea honestly if TJ is a good coach, bad coach, good assistants, bad assistants...I just know they look terrible right now...2 road games...a lot of teams will struggle on the road...
Maybe some home cooking will get their confidence back.

I mean this with 100% respect... But that is delusional to think this is a 1 seed after losing a near Q3 game by double digits. Especially coming off a BTS whooping at KU
They don’t hand out the seeds until March. This team either will or won’t deserve one based on their entire season. But getting sad because we were trending that way in January and then stopped trending is a waste of sad.

Same thing as previous years...

The trapping/switching defense works great against lesser physical and athletic opponents, but it doesn't hold up nearly as well against Big-12 caliber opponents. That style continually provides mismatches and open looks for the opponents offense, and most of the teams in the Big 12 can make ISU pay for it.

The offense doesn't look prepared strategically, physically, or mentally for Big 12 play. They look lost at the start of games. Things seem to pick up at some point later in the game for a few minutes, but trying to come from double-digit deficits against the conference opponents is too hard to consistently win.

IMO, this is a coaching philosophy/preparation issue. The staff needs to adapt better to the realities of Big 12 play.

3 seed, 2 seed, probably 3 seed at worst this year are the last 3 years, TJ is ******* terrible. How dare he lose 2 quad 1 road games mid-January.
The issue is not 2 road losses, it’s that we didn’t stand a chance for either of them.

Losing at the Phog was not a big deal, but we got our asses handed to us.

Today we looked like a Steve Prohm team.

Strategy is fine, but you have to play with crazy intensity every possession.

They have lacked on the intensity side, the first 10 minutes of games is the burden of proof

ISU shot a higher percentage from 3 and shot same percentage as the Bearcats overall.

The problem is you can't give a team 20 more shots

Gone is the best chance in two and a half decades to win a conference title... Gone is a 1 seed...

Seems to be an annual thing with the current system
Just get in the tournament. Learn from these struggles and start to play your best ball come tournament time

I’ve said it before, but every team will go through peaks and valleys. Obviously ISU MBB and WBB are deep in valleys right now. But the season isn’t lost.

I’m okay losing games where the other team gets hot and hits shots like KU.

We just lost to a Cincinnati team who played their average game (below average shooting, actually) and beat us by 9.

We look like a shell of ourselves both offensively and defensively compared to a month ago.
