MBB Open Scholarship

First I while I am guessing he will be a Tiger with new coach Hardaway, Tyler Harris is a take. Outside of that, if you look at our class balance next year we will have:
4 Freshman
3 Sophomores
2 Juniors (both bigs)
3 Seniors

You also have a possibility that you lose Wiggs next year to NBA. I think best option is a transfer that comes in with a redshirt year and would be a JR or SR in fall 19. Without that you have at most 5 upperclassmen by then and possibly 4 if Wiggs goes. A transfer with a redshirt ...like a 3 point specialist SG would be awesome for the future.

Other route is a JUCO who comes in as a jr and joins the Jacobson, Young class. In either case you probably are talking guard not big.

Cluck fass balance. Recruiting... you play to win the game! ( Best available always)

I really like our 4 freshman recruiting class, but as a general rule I don't like to rely on freshman. IMO the roles Georges and Monte played as complimentary players is preferred over the role Wigginton played this year.

If I also look at next year's roster, what position can we least afford an injury? IMO that would be a long-term injury to Nick or Lindell.

The other question, is what is the weakest aspect of next years team? IMO that is a stud 3pt shooter beyond Lindell.

Based on the above, I'd go after the best combo guard I can sign with college experience. JUCO might be the logical choice, but an elite grad transfer might be the surest bet. Just like Duke or Kentucky can attract multiple McD AA's each year. I would think ISU's roster next year would be highly attractive to a grad transfer wanting to compete for a Big 12 title and deep run in the NCAA Tournament.

Yes, my pitcher of KOOL-AID is way more than half-full.

There are already 6 new players next year. I see nothing wrong with banking it for 2019 - or a mid year if the right player is available.

Wigginton still learning and Halliburton a raw freshmen. Are we really set on banking it when point guard was a concern? But heck if I know what we need. Guess I'm just anxious cuz of some of this stuff some people were posting about if we lost a possible backcourt starter crap. Where did that come from anyway?

A vague tweet by Babb.

Up 5 spots from 27 to 22, which would put us right in front of NW. Seriously a team with 1 tournament appearance ever is at #22, stupid millenials. :)
Maybe the problem is that they aren't stupid enough to keep them out of Northwestern.

So if Babb leaves, we really don't have a point guard for next year. Halliburton simply will not ready to be a starting point in the Bi 12 next years. Wigs really struggled to play the position.

I'm more concerned about our post depth as we pretty much have just Young Lard and Jacobson. One injury like we dd this year with Young and we have no depth at all to deal with foul problems or injury. We may have missed on several grad transfers in the post but if we don't have someone like Brase, Beverly, or Merrill on the bench next year we could be in trouble.

I'm fairly confident Conditt could give us better minutes than Beverly, Holden and Brase.

Please no more Beverly's, Brase's, or Holden's. Just keep the scholy in back pocket for something that opens up. Not a knock against the three named as people because all three are great human beings but just not top tier big12 talent we need if we want to continue making tourney and winning big 12 championships.

I think there will be more small ball and “position less” ball next year. A lot of one post lineups even when there is no foul trouble.
