Said Pratt just mailed it in and was horrible acting in it. All the slow mo walking to the soundtrack. The effects especially the costumes of those slug looking things was laughably pathetic. Way too long even halfway through. While he’s been a huge Marvel fan he thinks everything lately is not good. And he already said he has no interest in The Marvels because it looks so cheesy.
We were chatting with his friends today that are also huge Marvel fans and they said they actually did walk out.
Made a **** ton of money though this weekend!
Appreciate your thoughts on it, as everyone has different tastes. You and your friends are honestly the only people I have heard not like it and actually hate it.
This may not be the case, but I mentioned earlier in the thread that I think if you don’t like (especially walked out of) Guardians 3 I think it’s more that you are burned out of Marvel movies and perhaps super hero movies in general, as this movie was way better than Guardians 2, which I think you said you liked and your other half liked.
Not sure Marvel can put out much of anything that would appease you to be honest, aside from taking a long break to let the over saturation die off.
DC can still pull something out because the bar is so low aside from a couple of movies. Sounds like The Flash has a great chance to be up there as a great superhero movie.
BTW I completely agree with you on The Marvels and pretty much all of Phase 4 and beyond. Thor 4 was brutal, Wakanda Forever was 45 minutes too long, Ant Man Quantumania had potential and I had fun with it, but just fell flat in a few areas that really stuck out.
But Guardians 3 if you honestly assess it against many of the Phase 1-3 movies, and unhook the burnout, is better than many of them and right on par with several that are highly rated by most imo.
Hope they come out with a movie that gets you back and excited in the theater, as I hate it when I’m looking forward to something and it doesn’t live up to it in any way. I feel your frustration.
