I love Tom Holland as Spider-Man and think his movies are easily the best of the bunch.
However... if this movie is anything but an absolute mess I will be shocked. Absolutely blown away.
Ok, so I just sent myself down a nerd rabbit hole.
Bear with me here. Since Loki is actually a frost giant for Jotunheim, and he destroyed that planet, he's the last of an alien race. He has "died" multiple times but keeps coming back. He now has to travel through time and space fixing things.
If he ends up having a human companion in the show, he's basically a Time Lord.
Nerd moment over.
I hope Marvel doesn't fall in love with the more-is-more mentality based on the success of Infinity War and End Game. A really good villain and nearly impossible odds are what I always loved about Spider-Man when I was growing up. Homecoming resonated with me more than Far From Home for that reason.
Also, I liked how he was used in IW and EG, but I'm always rooting for the smaller-scale problems for Spider-Man so we can focus on the characters. Even though I loved the animated Spiderverse movie, I want to keep him out of space as much as possible. And give him a normal suit again. I get a little tired when some random piece of technology magically saves the day.
Yeah, I'm mostly with you there. This is also why I'm a bit tempered with my excitement for the new Spider-Man: No Way Home, and its opening up of the multiverse. After Endgame, I was looking forward to hopefully scaling back the Spider-Man movies to more of your neighborhood Spider-Man variety villains, rather than continuing to scale up. Bigger isn't always better. To me, going the multi-verse/spider-verse route is definitely more of a scale-up. We'll see I guess.
I'm worried that getting too into multi verse stuff is going to be confusing for the more casual viewer and will cause people to become disinterested

Probably not. And he doesn't have a police box that's bigger on the inside, that I'm aware of.
But the similarities are glaring!

Loki Rotten Tomatoes score clocking in currently at 96%. Not too schabby. One thing I always hate about Rotten Tomatoes scores and TV is how all these reviews are only based on the first 2 episodes. Therefore, it makes it hard to put too much stock in Rotten Tomatoes scores when series are all finished as I have no idea how many get updated. The only time I see them being too terribly accurate is right now, and only for the first 2 episodes. What if the series sucks from episode 3 forward?

Didn't Wandavision have bad initial scores because people didn't get it yet after 3 episodes?
