Didn't want to start a new thread on this. Anyone watch Jupiter's Legacy on Netflix? Just watched the first episode and I'm intrigued.

I have to think the range of what this could be covers a huge area.

I'll admit that I'm intrigued, but I'd be lying if I didn't say I'm somewhat a bit underwhelmed. We'll see. They didn't give us a ton to go off of, which is fine by me, because that is all I want in a first trailer. I guess I'm comparing it to the Shang-Chi trailer, which greatly amped up my excitement for the film, whereas this one I'm just similar walking away from it as to where I was walking in.

The film looks as beautiful as advertised. Really interested to see how they’ll explain the lack of involvement they’ve had with the Avengers’ conflicts against cosmic entities. Thanos being a big one.

I'm to the point any Marvel trailer looks amazing right now and is eggplant emoji worthy. That said, I'm excited to see how the progress into phase 4.

This is my biggest issue. Anyone that has had powers before will need to answer this question. They gave a brief mention to it with Captain Marvel, but it seems like this is bigger as they wouldn't be off planet.

Not sure if anyone else is watching MODOK. I'm a sucker for Patton Oswalt, and he's definitely in his element with this series. Not going to win any awards, but it's a very fun watch

I've been debating getting into it. I have to be in the right mood for his comedy sometimes, but Patton Oswalt seems like a perfect fit for the role.

Good to hear someone is liking it. I've heard somewhat mixed things on the series. Personally, animated shows like this which aren't connected to anything else don't exactly interest me much. Just have too much else I'm more interested to watch.

I need a little help here.

I’m seeing that “Ms. Marvel” is essentially getting equal billing in what is now entitled “Marvels”, along with Captain Marvel and, umm, Monica Rambeau, whatever her superhero name turns out to be.

Now, I haven’t read or collected comics since the early Nineties, so I’m familiar with the elder two characters, but the latter has me…bemused.

I gather that she’s a Muslim and a shapeshifter —and that the character has only existed for eight years. Oh, and that she idolizes Captain Marvel. That’s fine, but it’s the whole shapeshifter thing that’s throwing me.

After all, I grew up with the animated Justice League series, when the “Wonder Twins” were shapeshifters.

And, alongside the other Justice League members, those powers were just…lame.

So now we’ve got Carol Danvers’ Captain Marvel—way cool powers. Monica Rambeau/Spectrum? Way cool powers. And then…Kamala Khan’s relatively bland “oh, I can shapeshift” Ms. Marvel powers.

One of you folks more familiar with the character care to help me out here? What’s the appeal?

I mean, besides being able to do a good Skrull impression.

Pretty please?

Really good coming of age stories. Good personality.
I need to really work to describe her powers better. Lots of good, endearing stories.

She's kind of more Mr. Fantastic than just a shapeshifter. Agreed with Erik though, very hard to describe her power set.

I think the appeal for Disney is that they get to tell a Spider-Man origin story without using Spider-Man.

Ms Marvel is very similar to Peter Parker/Spider-Man: teenager from the East-Coast (Ms Marvel takes place in New Jersey) receives powers unexpectedly and now must handle added responsibilities. Disney skipped over the origin story of how Tom Holland's Spider-Man received and honed his powers, so we're going to see that story play out through Ms Marvel. The powers are very quirky, but Kamala leans into that weirdness like a sarcastic teenager would and also with some fun catch-phrases ("embiggen!")

Something unique, besides the fact she is a Muslim girl, is that Kamala comes from a nuclear family: she lives at home with both parents present as well an older brother. That adds more complexity to her crime-fighting, where her family is continually checking up on her whereabouts - a lifestyle that may be more difficult than what Peter Parker has experienced.
