Had heard other rumors prior to today that Feige WAS NOT happy with the choice on the dual-release for Black Widow. This is one more report reiterating that. As an outsider, this type of stuff always makes me a bit nervous, as I want Feige as happy as can be so that he stays in his current role as long as possible. It's also worth noting that there is both a whole new hierarchical structure in place with distribution calling a lot more shots in Disney as well as a new CEO in Bob Chapek. This is the only Disney malcontent rumblings that have been going around Hollywood outside of Marvel Studios. Will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Nobody is happy with the dual releases or shortened theater windows. Krasinski and Blunt were pretty unhappy about A Quiet Place 2. A lot of these actors have money built in to their contracts based on box office performance. Something they'll need to figure out.

It really is a bizarre time.

A lot of movies I worked on product for, or even went into mass production, have sat for nearly 18 months now.

I had circled Ghostbusters Afterlife (Nov 11) as a big one that would be delayed until totally after Covid but give the current state of things I'm not sure I was right anymore.

Minions 2 (I know it's not the thing of this board but a big profitable movie) is going to end up delayed nearly two years after some toy companies hit the shelves with the merch last year.

The Spacejam box office in particular was a good sign for my biz in licensed movie release based toys, but it's like how long can it last?

Movies like The Batman and JW3 that aren't really out there in the public eye are also going to have gigantic delays from where they were originally intended.

The only one I remember of Renner being not content was actually with his role in the first Avengers movie. He hated the idea that he was pretty much a mind-controlled zombie throughout most that movie. I always found that interesting as I loved what Whedon did with his character in that movie. With that said, I feel like as time has gone on, he has gotten more and more comfortable with his role in the MCU and has even showed at times lots of camaraderie with the group. I could be wrong with that though.

You're right. It was on set of the first Avengers when he would fake heart attacks all the time while shooting. I hadn't seen any of that until a couple years ago, and it made me think it was over more recent films.

Interesting, I had not heard about the rumor of conflict between him and Hailee Steinfield

I heard the rumor first from Reddit as this article indicates. I've noticed a huge uptick in "Renner mentored Steinfield" articles since then. Take it for what you will. I have no idea if the rumors of him being difficult to work with are actual "toxic actor" rumors or if they're "Weinstein-style" rumors.

We Got This Covered is a brutally unreliable source, FWIW.

They are ridiculously unreliable. I more look to where they are getting it and gauge the validity of it, so I don't 100% discount them. Just most of the time do. Obviously with this one, it is from Reddit, so definitely in the rumor category.

Apparently What If? episodes are about a half hour long episodes

It is sad the back and forth happening in the media between Disney and Scarlett Johansson. I really hope some type of arrangement gets settled on between both parties as this toxicity has the potential to spread not only to Feige, where it apparently has already, but to other actors/actresses or anyone else considering joining the MCU in the future. I'll be the first to admit that Disney's initial response was very un-Disneylike of them, somewhat similar to ESPN's response to the Big 12 accusations. Curious how much of this can be attributed to Bob Chapek, the new CEO, as their previous CEO Iger likely never would have let things like that get released.

What if....? will apparently be only 9 episodes instead of the intended 10 since the last episode couldn't get finished in time due to delays. However, that episode will be a part of S2.

Apparently a couple "What If" plots had to be dumped because they basically were revealing the stories of coming MCU films.

I'm still really not looking forward to this show, but hope it proves me wrong. Regardless, it will be interesting how different it will feel with the start of the new Disney+ Wednesday release schedule rather than Fridays.

Ok. I finally finished Loki. I’ve been avoiding this thread. Can someone explain the last episode to me like I’m 6 (also the age of my son)?

Sylvie killed the guy protecting the sacred timeline setting off a multiverse of time lines and it turns out the dude was a reasonable version of Kang the Conqueror from the comic books and the dominant version of the one in the timeline they drop into at the end of the episode is going to be the Avenger's Big Bad Guy for the next phase of movies. Like the multiple Lokis there will be multiple versions of this dude with one main guy pulling the strings.

He Who Remains is a good-variant version of Kang the Conqueror, a mainline Avengers threat from the comics. What he’s been doing with the “sacred” timeline is pruning all individuals and resetting events that eventually towards the timelines where one of his evil variants surfaces takes power and starts mucking with the multiverse.

Sylvie killing He Who Remains is an act of revenge on her part, but she unknowingly kills the only thing keeping the rest of the Kang variants at bay, which is why we see a different TVA in the post credits.

Also not mentioned is that new TVA statue at the end is a statue of Kang in his suit from the comics. Therefore, that statue is what confirms Sylvie's actions did in fact bring forth Kang in at least whatever new timeline Loki ends up in.
