Kinda resembles Abdel Nader.

I'm probably missing something, but how is it we are in 1st place in the Big 12 with just 3 games left and will likely be favored in two of those games, but yet year after year we have only the 6th or 7th best recruits?

This recruit Verdon looks like another possible gem, where his ratings are not eye-popping, but yet he will be part of a team that wins a bucketload of games. So either our staff is really good at evaluating potential, or really good at making good players into really good or even great players, or perhaps both. Either way, I'm enjoying the ride!

Recruiting is different this year. No camps because of the pandemic, so a lot more unknown from the national scouts. Trust the staff in their evaluations. As for this kid, looks to be a good one.

Generally there is not a lot of difference between the 6th/7th place and 3rd place when it comes to rating classes. Also, CMC tends to recruit guys of character along with being good athletes, so the chances are recruits will qualify and keep out of trouble in school. Still, I agree, it would feel better if ISU was number 5 just once.

Location, tradition, and facilities. That's why we aren't getting top half recruiting classes in the Big 12.

But we've been closing the gap, by a lot. 6th/7th place is muuuuch better than 9th/10th annually.

You can't possibly play the facilities card. Not any more. Our facilities have upgraded exponentially in the last 10 years and continue to improve. Our facilities are as good or better than most every Division 1 school. We compare favorably with every team we play now, where in past years, that wasn't the case.

Feels like our guys don't really look at stars as much as they do measurements and eye test stuff, which is obviously good but won't always translate to great looking numbers on the recruiting sites.

Every program has continued to invest in facilities. We are in a much better position relative to the past, but still in the trail position to a lot of programs making more money than ISU. Start YouTubing facilities...it’s startling.

I agree, our facilities our vastly improved. But as we've made improvements, so has Texas, OU, OSU, TCU, KSU, BU, etc. I'm not sure where our facilities rank within the Big 12, but it's not top 3.

They are definitely competitive now.
