Lucca's Facebook Status (4/26/10)

All I know is there is one common thread in all of the player departures from ISU...that common thread is GM.

But you go ahead and keep banging on the kids.

I imagine GM wanted them to go to class, study, get good grades, be disciplined on and off the court...that doesn't go over well with kids these days.

Not banging on the kids. If you look into who recruited them, you will find there is another common thread. Note that all of the kids that stayed, Brackins, DG, Boozer, were all recruited by the same guy.
This Jekyll and Hyde report on GMac isn't anything new. Sounds like any coach I have ever played for. Looks like DG, Boozer, Brackins, SC, and Dendy bought into the family side of things. Others not so much. People are making Dendy's comments out to be bad. To me it seems like he thougth of GMac as family and would be hurt and would lose trust in people going forward.
Lucca is a POS that quit mid season so I don't really care what he says. The hamilton comment bothered me but if the rumors about his relationship with certain assitants is true, it doesn't surprise me.

These guys were given a education, room and board the entire time they were at ISU free of charge. Now they want to be a couple wise a----. If I knew anything about facebook, I would forward it to the wrestling and football team," Hamilton says ISU hahaha"

Get what? That maybe some of the players don't hate GMac as much as people think?

To be fair, we knew Boozer liked it here (was one of the first to announce he was staying), and Dendy, I dont know if we thought he hated GMac, the main issue with him was, and i would assume will continue to be both grades and whether he'll decide to make personal issues in South Carolina more of a priority.

Well I guess I misread all the posters saying Dendy would be leaving because he hated GMac. Must have been another board.
Either way some players love the coach others don't. Not really any different than any teamI have been on. Big difference is this team was losing. If they were winning we don't see transfers and hear about the issues.

and LSU finishes in last place again... nice move... who cares... I cant beleive they still let him use the practice facility.. i for one, would not.

And that concerns me. Up until last night, JP was 100% behind Greg. If things come out that point to Greg not being good with the players at all - how does that reflect on our athletic department and the decision to not make a change (on their own accord) this off-season?

I highly doubt JP was behind Mac 100% as he stated publically. But what else could he say? "I'm behind you 50% and if you don't win next year, we will fire you?". He can't go that route.

I hate to cite Steve Deace as a source but he did have lunch with JP a few weeks back and said it seemed to him that this was purely a business decision and not JP "sticking with his guy".

I do fully expect people to throw mud at Lucca and Hamilton. But it seems apparent to me both left situations they felt were not beneficial to them. Happens every single day...in and outside of sports. And I do not blame them one bit.

From my perspective, reading between the lines, Lucca stressed "family" as it's likely something Greg preached very hard...and now is leaving the family. I can tell from watching the team no one bought the family line from Greg, likely because he sold it horribly.

But hey, go ahead and follow JP by putting blame on the kids for leaving - completely ignoring the real issue...who has also now left.

I dont blame Lucca for leaving however the way that he left (in the middle of the season) was not right. He should have stuck it out IMO.

The blame in this situation falls directly on Gmac, PERIOD.

Mac didn't leave mid season. Also, the majority is happy he is leaving. The simple fact is that most people quit on him long before he quit on us.

I find it interesting that so many are taking the tact that McD is quitting on ISU. I read numerous posts in the last 3-6 months saying that if McD really wanted to do what was right for ISU basketball he should resign his position. Now it appears he is doing exactly that and that doesn't satisfy either. It would only be satisfying if he had chosen to do so and didn't have other employment arranged?

As I have said previously, it has gotten to the point that McD is (and has been) in a no win situation. When that became clear to me was when I decided that it was inevitable that he needed to go.

EXACTLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The bullcrap bushleague sorry excuse for a basketball program is BREAKING APART!!!!!!!!

or "I've told Greg that it is time to go but I'm giving him time to find another gig"?

This type of exit strategy (telling him to find something else while publicly supporting him) could have saved the program a lot of money with the same result (GMac gone).

Nice trolling. You keep loving it. And while your at it, how is it in mom's basement today? Still looking through the old victoria secrets, or have you switched over to the JC Penny ad from this weekend.

Back on subject
Hamilton's comment is in bad taste. ISU is letting him use the facilities. Staiger is a DB (see above post for more references to DB's). I think his departure timing was even worse that McD's timing.
