Looking for new music

From Mr. Paul Shirley, on his best albums of 2007 (explanations at the link - but I have listened to all and agree with a lot of his findings):
ESPN - My favorite albums of 2007 - NBA

10. Animal Collective -- "Strawberry Jam"

9. A Place To Bury Strangers -- "A Place To Bury Strangers"

8. Cold War Kids -- "Robbers and Cowards"

7. Radiohead -- "In Rainbows"

6. Modest Mouse -- "We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank"

5. The Go! Team -- "Proof of Youth"

4. Band of Horses -- "Cease to Begin"

3. Nine Inch Nails -- "Year Zero"

2. Kings of Leon -- "Because of the Times"

1. The National -- "Boxer"

Every decade has a few bands with no talent that are very popular (see also: Green Day and the Offspring). It just seems like the current decade has more than its share so far.

Hey - I liked Green Day and Offspring. Oh wait - let me rephrase. If they had just stuck to the "Dookie" and "Smash" albums and put nothing else out that might be a true statement...

Just looking at my Itunes list of over 4 stars. Here are the bands with the most.

#1 Led Zeppelin
#2 White Stripes
#3 Nirvana (From the muddy banks is my favorite)
#4 Rolling Stones
#5 Muddy Waters
#6 Billie Holiday

Wife just bought some Paramore CD. Doesn't sound like my type of music though.

If you like chick singers...Flyleaf is a good one. Paramore is decent too.

Three Days Grace
Tantric (I think they only have one CD but its good)
Muse
The Envy Corps
Sick Puppies

My personal favorite is Blue October.

A little harder....Drowning Pool and the aforementioned System of a Down.

I've been listening to Spoon's newest cd "Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga" (give or take a Ga) a lot recently. "Gimme Fiction" is good too. Also downloaded Feist and Wilco the other day, haven't listened to much but pretty good from the little time I've given it.

One of my favorite CD's ever is Chris Cornell's "Euphoria Morning", check it out if you like him. His voice is so unique you probably either love it or hate it.

Also really like Jack's Mannequin "Everything in Transit"

Again, this is pretty indicative of my iTunes library. :) I love "Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga" and "Gimme Fiction". LOVE Wilco. Been listening to a ton of Jack's Mannequin, too! Great taste!

ABBA's drummer died recently. How's come no one is talkin bout that?

-Fernando

If there are any fans of the Jayhawks out there, Gary Louris just released a solo album, and their drummer, Tim O'Reagan did the same a year or so ago.

If you like Wilco, you may want to check out Golden Smog, a sort of supergroup with Jeff Tweedy of Wilco, and Gary Louris of the Jayhawks, among others.

DethKlok ftw. Hard to beat Thunderhorse.

the Black Keys.

Heck yeah! I just started listening to them. They are awesome. That tune they do for the "Black Snake Moan" soundtrack is killer.

--"When the lights go out." Fantastic.

Have you ever listened to R.L. Burnside? He's dead now, but he's in the same vein.

Yo Frontrange Clone

I'm trying to decide if I should go see Mike Doughty up in MN, too!! He's going to be there a few times in the next few months. I love his new album. I was going to post that earlier!
