Live from BISON nation.

The stats look favorable for NDSU. The running game should be strong (good OL and RB). The Defense is strong on the edges. The returning starting QB is getting pushed hard by the newcomers, and his stable of targets just received reinforcements.
Are there any areas of concern-in regards to the ISU game and beyond?

Of course they do. We're playing in the Big 12 brother. It ain't intramurals.

Does anyone remember how all the SDSU fans got sooo pumped up for the game last yeat thinking they SHOULD beat ISU?

NDSU, come up and enjoy the game. Just know it's not going to be a win. Hope your team at least puts up a fight.

I remember walking out of Jack Trice stadium and hearing SDSU fans making excuses about why they lost so bad it was pathetic, i imagine NDSU fans can dish it out but cant take it once they lose

I do. I think ISU will win, but I also remember how I felt before Kent State. The first few games of a new regime can be treacherous.

That and the loss to UNI the next week were definitely hard to take -- watching ISU getting outscored 47-27

However, I have a much better feeling about this coaching staff's preparation for the upcoming season. I think Chiz's choices on assistant coaches sort of set the tone early. I never really heard anything come out of ISU that was either good or bad Chiz's first few weeks before the start of the season.

I wouldn't go to the bars with a cocky attitude, some out might take exception to it. Just a heads up.

They had more Major D1 Linemen than you do.

Kent State != NDSU.

IMO, if we lose to NDSU especially with all their suspensions, heads should role. First game of a new regime or not. It would be a major embarrasment.

What are the strengths of this team on offense? On defense? How many starts do you bring back from last season? You had a pretty successful year last year (with A LOT of close losses against some pretty solid competition), so if you bring back a lot of experience, you could make this game closer than most ISU fans want to think.

What level of experience is there on this team? Mostly Jr's/Sr's or So's/Fr?

The ONLY chance I would see NDSU having in this game would be if they were a very successful power run team. ISU's defensive front seven would have to improve dramatically to even be considered "below average", so NDSU may be able to establish the run.

NDSU has no chance if they are going to try and win this game throwing the ball/shutting down ISU's passing attack. ISU will get their yards passing, their passing game is quite effective. NDSU will have to run the ball successfully and keep ISU's offense off the field in order to have a chance here.

For ISU fans who actually think this is more than a "scrimmage", here is some quick info I found on the Bison:

2008 North Dakota State Bison football team - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

2008 NDSU Football Statistics - North Dakota State University

Overall, the Bison don't appear to have much of a shot here, because ISU's offense should roll. If NDSU gets their run game going, however, this game could become too close for comfort. I'm planning on going to this game, hopefully it stays competetive for a half or more.

My call:

ISU 42
NDSU 23

This one of a couple of things I disagree with you on. I'm hoping the game is decided in the first half and ISU gets to play a lot of people in game the second half. That way you can sit back and really enjoy the Jack Trice Stadium atmosphere

Every team has a certain segment of fans that always make outlandish predictions. I'm sure there are Iowa fans who will say the Hawks are going to crush UNI.

Potentially, yeah, the Hawks look like they can roll. But potentially, UNI also has a very good opportunity to pull off a huge upset.

Congratulations! You successfully transitioned from hockey...er...degenerate reservation casino gambling...er...well, you made it to football season up in North Dakota, and none too soon. I'm sure you'll have a fabulous year playing something that resembles football in an inferior division against and with inferior athletes...if you can call them that. We look forward to your mighty, 1,384 fan base rolling into Ames on Sept. 3rd to watch your team get slaughtered. Best of luck drinking away your income waiting for hockey season!

We'll bring a lot more than 1300 to Ames.

Nice, thought out and intelligent post, buddy.

Cyclones should win with the scholly differential ( 85 to 63 )....but don't count out the Bison. If we can establish the running game and pass off of it then it will be interesting.

Well...the Bison OL should be a strength.....we'll see.

Central Michigan was going to kick our *** by 40 and well, let's see....we beat them 44-14.

I will be there in Ames!!

GO BISON

I don't know if you know or not, but we are Iowa State, not CMU. Also, we don't care, like, at all.
