lattimer and howard suspended indefinately

The battery felony took place in Hutchison, KS. As for the latest incident, today's Des Moines Register sports section provides a decent description of the events.

You said yesterday he put the cops hands behind his back and pulled him down. All this says is that he pulled the cop away, big difference.

Howard will almost surely be a one-game suspension for OWI, based on past history with CPR and our other recent coaches. Hopefully Lattimer gets a one-game suspension too and/or we use Iowa's stategy and get the trial delayed until after the season. We really need him at DE.

The Register article stated police responded to a fight in progress shortly before 2 a.m. Once they arrived, police were told two men (Lattimer and a friend) ran away from the scene. An officer caught Lattimer's friend and, while trying to subdue him, Lattimer grabbed the officer from behind and tried to pull him away.

My question is, was Lattimer involved in the fight police were responding to? If I had to guess, I'd say he was. Why else would people who witnessed the fight tell police that two men fled from the scene if they had nothing to do with it?

Either way, I just don't see how Jacob stays.

I didn't say "he put the cops hands behind his back and pulled him down." I said, "He grabbed the cop's arms from behind and pulled him away."

:skeptical: Im not sure on that, I remember you said he pulled the cops down. Whatever. There is no way Lattimer is kicked off the team, if Sims committed theft and was not kicked off, I don't expect that from Lattimer.

While I would usually agree, since Lattimer was on probation, he may need more than one game. Heck, he might do a little time if he broke his probation.

His previous arrest is pretty crappy in my book. Looks like big tough football players went after little guys.

Well, this may not be up to Rhoads. I know a kid that got into a fight and ended up getting in some serious trouble because of the injuries to the other guy and he couldn't leave the state without permission. I have to think that if he would have gotten in trouble while gone, the penalty may have been pretty severe. I don't know much about the law on this stuff, but the first offense that got him on probation was pretty bad IMO. We will just have to wait to see how this plays out.

I agree that a minor altercation with a cop and no injuries delivered/no punches thrown is not grounds for being kicked off the team. But now finding out he has a prior conviction may change the dynamics quite a bit.

That's what I was thinking. Attacking two kids (previous arrest) because they were yell leaders? What a tough guy. And after reading the Register article this morning, I don't want him suiting up for Iowa State this fall.

People say this every time a player gets arrested. Usually they stay on the team with a suspension. Guess we will see how it works out this time, losing JL would be a huge blow.

I agree that if he is on probation it could be a problem. Most of the teams we compete with instate and in the Big 12 would try to delay his trial until after the season to avoid this possibility. Really sucks, seems like whenever we get a good DE that has a breakout season, they end up in trouble before the next one starts.

my 2k+ donation and $1500 for tickets says get his *** on the field.

We need to win now....
