You have to think there are many many players right now wanting to play for TJ and be a part of this program. But it's all about if you fit in the system so even big time players we may pass on or not look at much which is crazy...but also awesome because if you don't fit you don't fit.

Excellent team win. Kansas tried to make it a rock fight and we killed them. our three bigs really dominated them inside. we really missed Milan’s ability to stretch the floor and it’s definitely a concern going forward. Teams are really going to pack it in on us.

It's going to be tougher but Lipsey, Cujo, Gilbert and to a lesser extent, Jefferson are all viable threats from three and Heise will get there.

Also Watson can even things out defensively.

Again it will be tougher but teams will still have to make some choices on defense.

Heise needs to start shooting (and making) from distance like he did at UNI. That would help a lot. Lipsey seemed more aggressive from distance in the KU game, I could see that helping as well. And finally, Gilbert has been drive-happy this year, which is fine, but he used to be more comfortable shooting from distance, he seems to have shuffled off that in deference to Cujo this year. Understandable I suppose, but I'd like to see Gilbert shooting more 3s.
Lipsey is now at 37% from deep in conference games. That is enough that you have to stay honest in your defensive scheme. This will be particularly important with Milan out. Agree it would be REALLY nice if Heise was similar threat.

Keshon has regressed in three point shooting but overall FG percentage has taken a huge jump. Did not have a great night tonight offensively but was mostly under control and did not force much. Sometimes that is all we need from him.

Hoping to see this start translate into recruiting wins. Anyone who’s interested in winning and playing for a great coach and great fan base - either in HS or portal - should have us on their list.
With TJ...he recruits the person that is willing to work and buy into the culture that's been established. Jefferson is a perfect example of that....Great athlete. Yeah, we want those types of guys...but they better be willing to play defense and not just offense...and play hard as well.

Don’t disagree at all. There is top tier talent that would buy into our system. And the consistently high rankings and growing visibility should make finding those right guys easier for TJ. That’s all I’m trying to say.

Keshon said it best. If you don’t wanna work hard this place isn’t for you. Come work your ass off, get better, and win a **** ton of games

There also seems to be a theme of doing life stuff very well too. Class/academics, community, etc.

To think some of you on this site were having a full on meltdown about Jamie hiring TJ four years ago. Good times never felt so good!
I wasn't one of them but I can't say I haven't ever been totally wrong so I don't think I will throw too many stones. When Fred was pursuing Royce White I boldly stated that he would never play a minute for ISU.

I think I got that one way wrong. I later found out it was only because of extraordinary effort by Fred, his staff and the managers though.

It looks to me like Watson can shoot a three too. Yes, his release is slow from outside so he needs to be wide open but the defense can't completely ignore him out there.

Just waiting for @NoCreativity to weigh in with his negative/Debby Downer color commentary.
He did not comment on why the game sucked. But then he admitted he did not watch it yet.

So the this player sucked commentary could still be forthcoming.

Not out of the woods yet.

He was commenting on the Watson thread based on 2nd hand information so apparently he is warming up

I think it already has. All of the portal adds this year were wins.
I'm not disagreeing but the portal adds weren't top of the line portal adds per rankings. Those guys went to Kansas, Arkansas...

We got what we needed though. Physical, athletic bigs that had better offensive skills then what we had previously and a longer wing to help defend players like TJ Shannon.
