KU gets all the breaks

. . . . . . It is called the "Kansas factor." What else could it be? Did the refs ever get suspended for that nonsense call?? Exactly.

None of the KU players trying to get eligibility played on a pro team...

They would if given a chance. And in Lucca's case, he didn't get paid. But this was more of a shot at Euro players instead of ISU. A number of them were declared ineligible. Its a stupid rule...

blah blah blah......Other people do stuff too, so KU isn't bad..........

I notice you completely ignored the Lester Earl part. Hmmm, wonder why. Nope, the NCAA never does anything that favors KU more than other schools. Nope, never.

Your longwinded excuse for Chalmers'dad is laughable. Am I mistaken, but didn't Lafrentz's parents get taken care of also, as well as Heinrich's and maybe Collisons? There have been so many, that I cannot even keep track anymore.

Great school btw, loved how most of last year ISU was a bigger draw in football than KU. Nice support. Wave the wheat!!!! Tools.

I honestly don't remember anything KU did wrong regarding Lester Earl. You'll have to fill me in on it. (and hopefully not with your anti-KU bias that's coming through oh-so-thick) I would have been maybe 13 when he came to KU so I wasn't really tuned in to anything regarding the team other than what happened on the court. All I can remember was that he was friends with Master P and he drove a sweet car around town.

I also don't remember any allegations regarding benefits given to any families of the former players from the state of Iowa. I would have been old enough to remember any such claims regarding Hinrich and Collison, but maybe not LaFrentz. Again, you'll have to fill me on what KU did wrong in these situations.

I hate to add fuel to this fire here, but you are bringing up things that were well exposed to the NCAA yet KU didn't get in trouble for. Roy got in trouble with the NCAA near the end of his time as KU coach for giving gifts to players that had graduated. Darnell Jackson was suspended ten or fifteen games his freshman or sophomore year for accepting payments from a booster. Point is, I really don't think the NCAA has any bias toward KU, but you can obviously disagree.

Also, you have to understand re: KU football last season - they were playing crappy teams early in the season. Before the season, everyone was wondering if Mangino was going to keep his job. Not even those within the program foresaw the success they had last year. I think KU's 2007 early season attendance was reasonbly good when considering their coach was on a warm/hot seat, they were not playing quality opponents, and they did not play in a bowl game in 2006.

You can try to make KU the enemy, I guess, but to act like ISU or any other school does everything right is naive. I could tell stories about some test-taking procedures by ISU football players, betting on collegiate athletics by ISU athletes, etc. that I have observed if you want to get in to some sort of battle, but I think those are better left unsaid.

I honestly don't know why you are wasting your time here on a Cyclone website. You got dirt on ISU, fine. Whatever. Do a google search on Lester Earl by yourself, it isn't hard. Jayhawk arrogance is only rivaled by Jayhawk ignorance. KU gets taken care of by both the Big12 and the NCAA. Only a fool doesn't recognize that. 13 minutes into the game at Hilton last year, and Kansas didn't have a foul yet. I asked the ref if they were going for a perfect game. He didn't like the question, but the people around me sure got a big laugh.

I went to ISU. I'm an ISU fan. I typically just read the threads, but when I see stupidity that I can set straight, I'll jump in. An honest belief that the NCAA purposefully protects KU and purposefully "screws" ISU is just that, stupidity.

You really should just stop posting on this thread Kucyclone because you aren't going to win. I hate KU basketball more then any of my ex-girlfriends (trust me I have hate). If you don't think KU basketball gets the benefit of the doubt then you are crazy. There are just too many instances in which the ball bounces (no pun intended) KU's way when it comes to player rulings or on the court calls.

I'm going to have to agree with Kucyclone when it comes to blaming the NCAA on ****-poor referee calls (aka the counted 3-pt basket scored between two ISU free throws) as the NCAA has very little control over officiating instances such as this and can do nothing to fix them once they're done.

I'll back off the agreement with him when it comes to the apparent double standard the NCAA has with schools like Kansas and schools like Iowa State. But am I going to crucify Kansas for it? No, because it's not just Kansas that the NCAA lets get away with it (paging Texas and their "pro" basketball player).

I'm a Jayhawk and I'll admit I think KU does enjoy an advantage in basketball from the refs and probably from the NCAA also. How many times have you watched a Duke or UNC game and felt all the calls went their way? It's human nature and it's not fair for the schools without the rep. Look at KU football, with no rep, never even been to consecutive bowl games (hopefully that changes this year). Last time we played Texas we actually beat them. We had just completed a catch for a first down that would have allowed us to run the clock out, but a bs offensive pass interference call was made from the Texas sideline. I haven't seen that poor of a call in years of watching college football. By the way the ref was actually from Texas. We backed up, didn't make the first down, punted, and Vince Young proceeded to bring them down the field for a last second TD to win the game. No way our basketball team gets a call like that against them.

By the way I love this site. Wish KU had one like it. Much more interesting than the Phog or Jayhawk Slant.

You are welcome to post here anytime you want. Actually, so is the other guy. You are entitled to your own opinions, but you are not entitled to your own facts. I know KU got hosed in that Texas game. I believe that was the first year Texas went to the Rose Bowl. The Big 12 needed Texas to win to keep them eligible for a BCS game. I seem to remember the call was horrible, and Mangino went off after the game, as he should, while Texas got invited to Pasadena to face Michigan.

Oh and btw, thanks for proving that KU fans can be rational. I can give props too, that KU team was full of athletes this year, for sure, but they were very well coached. I was very impressed with their big men. They seemed to know where to be and what to do all game, at least the one in Ames.

Thanks joefrog. This year will be interesting in basketball. KU will be very young, but Aldrich is going to surprise some people. He's a player. I figured Self earned himself a rebuilding year. It's funny how a NC can make you forget about the back to back first round losses.

Good luck against Iowa, we'll need all the help we can get tonight in Tampa.

". . . as the NCAA has very little control over officiating instances such as this and can do nothing to fix them once they're done." LOL, the NCAA has its nose in every part of the game . . . I suppose they could INVESTIGATE the officials for game tampering . . couldn't they? Gambling is a problem whether you realize it or not. Refs shouldn't get away with it . . agree or not?
