KU gets all the breaks

Maybe Mario Chalmers and Darrell Arthur can take these young boys in and be strong role models for them.......:wideeyed:

I don't know the specifics on this prep school, but it seems like the NCAA just rubber stamped this one because they are KU players. We had a guy go to an american high school and graduate and not get cleared....

www.kansascity.com | 09/04/2008 | Morris twins cleared to play at KU

Don't worry, the NCAA will vent its spleen on ISU some future day to plus up its "enforcement" image. The NCAA is corrupt to the core! BTW I hate Kansas basketball for the very same reason.

Everything would be fine and dandy except for that pesky shooting incident of which one of them was involved.

I realize that Lucca got a raw deal, but saying that KU is getting some lucky break by getting eligibility for these guys is stupid. And it wasn't quite the "rubber stamp" process that you think. They were waiting several weeks to get eligible, although within the program everyone knew that once the NCAA got around to it, there wouldn't be a problem. Because of the hold-up, the kids couldn't play or practice for the team's recent Canada trip.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that the NCAA ALWAYS will penalize an "ISU" to cover down for a school like "KU" (e.g. Southern Cal and Reggie Bush's skating the "agent" issue). But to be specific about basketball . . the NCAA and KU disgust me. What the NCAA did to Lucca and ISU was inexcusable. BTW KU is the constant beneficiary of coddling refs and shaddy recruiting.

It took them until the season started to rule on Lucca. I dont feel sorry for KU at all.

I live only a few miles from Pennsauken, NJ where these guys supposedly got their academics straightened out and I have never heard of Apex Academey.

Looking at their website, they make no bones about why they exist.

Apex Academies

So Kansas has to wait weeks to get this looked at where Lucca had to wait unitl late Ocotber before he was told he couldn't play. That sounds pretty fair.

Also, so these guys weren't even going to classes yet? How were they living in the dorms? And also how do they get into classes this late?

"The NCAA is out to get ISU, and purposefully gives KU breaks."

Think about the absurdity of that for a minute.

The only thing absurd is the favoritism shown toward KU basketball. The immense double standard exists whether you acknowledge it or not . . to wit: how the NCAA treated ISU and Lucca. Now tell me the last time the NCAA did that to Kansas???????????????????????

BTW, I love the "push and shove" defense of Kansas basketball . . . and how your previous coach Roy Boy and KU fans cried like the babies they are . . . when Tinsely et al schooled big bad Kansas.

None of the KU players trying to get eligibility played on a pro team...

You want to talk absurdity? The day KU has a dead ball three pointer count against them is the day i believe the above statement is false.

KU doesn't get the breaks? Do a quick search on Lester Earl. The NCAA will always bend over backwards for KU.

Also, what happened that Chalmers dad isn't with KU basketball anymore? Funny how his employment ending coincided with his son's turning pro huh? What, KU doesn't want to keep connections with that hotbed of basketball Alaska?

I could go all day with how dirty KU is. It's like Nebraska football, only with less shame.

Yah, . . . how much money did he make?? Poor argument on your part . . shameful what the NCAA perps did to this kid. BTW, how much money do you think Lucca made playing for that German team? Wanna guess?

No, but what's-his-name from Texas did.

If the NCAA is willing to look the other way for Texas basketball, it is certainly willing to do it for Kansas. As a direct slight to ISU basketball on the other hand - probably not.

Poor argument? Isn't that the exact reason he was suspended? (Now before you get mad at me for saying that, I do realize [as do most fans from other teams] that Lucca got a raw deal.)

And in regard to Chalmers, find me the rule that KU broke. You can't tell me that ISU has some "moral high" or something where they would never hire someone to a basketball operations position who has connections to a McDAA-calibur player. This happens all the time in college basketball today. I would hope, as an ISU fan, that G-Mac would not be opposed to making such a hiring. It can be of great benefit to a team, as clearly evidenced by Mario and Ronnie Chalmers to KU. (And while I'm on this note, I would like to say that Ronnie Chalmers was much more than just a warm seat on the bench to keep his son happy. He had 20+ years of coaching experience. He was also from a large military background, which worked great in his role of Director of Basketball Operations. Since the rules prohibit the true coaches from being present at workouts outside of the season [a ridiculous rule which is why young Europeans are much better fundamental basketball players than young Americans, by the way] Chalmers could bring a workman-like attitude to these workouts [at the time he was hired, the key players were basically all freshmen and sophomores who needed guidance on the hard work needed when no upperclassmen could give that guidance]).

In regard to the Giddens' 3 while ISU was shooting free throws - do you really think the NCAA had something to do with those three referees' absurd (and please note that I agree it was absurd) decision to count that basket? That the NCAA has a plot to screw ISU? Or was it just those referees?

You guys should be a lot more concerned about the NCAA's recent decision of this Balbay kid from UT than the Morris twins from KU. As an ISU fan, that pisses me off a lot more than a couple prep school kids that took summer school classes so they could get eligibility.
