KSU @ ISU Postgame Thread******

DG has run the same play at the end of the half almost every game. He gets a good look and nails that shot 60% of the time. Maybe its time to try something new, however stick to your guns now. He has gotten us this far, the season is lost - stick by your senior leader. The hardest game winner to hit is the first one.

I'm not sure what games you have been watching but that 1-4 set has not worked 60 percent of the time. I can not even recall one time it has worked.

And I'm not putting this on DG. It's a poor set and it is one that he can not execute successfully. Not his fault. The staff needs to quit putting him in that situation.

I looked at the score, and just thought "Ah. Shocker."

All I can say is that I'm glad I didn't know when we played today.
See you guys next season!

People like you should not be able to enjoy how fun next year should be.

You should have to sit through seasons like this so when you get the chance to see something special it feels that much better.

Point - the bowl win last year. We were not a very good team and beat a terrible Minnesota team in a bowl. However, sitting through the last four years of a terrible team made it feel great. Much better than being a bandwagon fan and hopping on for the good seasons.

what do you know coaching is the issue again. cant wait till next year when its the biggest let down of all time.

DG on a 1vs1 drive to the hoop works 60% of the time during the game. He scored 20+ today almost completely off of drives and floaters. Its his game, just not falling at the end.

I wonder if the average life expectancy of an Iowa State fan is lower than the national average?

I think will we have to agree to disagree. I think that what you are talking about is totally different than the 1-4 set at the end of games and halfs. DG is good at getting a shot and making them within the confines of the normal offensive sets. This is when he has options to shoot or pass. The problem with the end of game situations is that we deviate from the normal offensive sets and leave it all for DG to beat his man one on one. And if you have paid attention it simply does not work. I would not call his driving to the hoop during normal offensive sets 1 on 1 as you do. There is a major difference.

Oh I know exactly how it feels. I'm a band alum, was in it for the past 5 years (not including this year), so I've sat through many a terrible game in both football and basketball. At least football was able to achieve some success while I was there -- there's been absolutely none to be had in basketball.

It's not like I'm going to stop cheering for my Cyclones, I just get sick of watching these losses, especially with really no hope left for the rest of the season.

For the most part I agree, but if you saw him after he hit some big shots today then you wouldn't say no heart.

I don't remember JVB ever being in the dog house. I also don't think McD ever really preached heart and effort.

On the last play of the game, I thought the K-State player used his forearm to push off and get free. IMO, it was a pretty blatant push off that should have been called.

Sat through multiple practices and McD would dog on Jamie the entire practice. Would even go as far as having him sit out of practice and just ride the bike. Jamie is a 6 foot shooting guard in a 7 footer's body. Unfortunately for him, when you are 7 foot you NEED to also rebound. Everyone and their mom knows he is going to screen and pop. Now that it isnt open, he still does it and just stands there. Roll to the basket and wait for an offensive board. He wont do what he doesnt want to do; i would say that is lack of effort/heart.

I don't get the constant criticism of Diante. We have NOTHING without him this year, nothing, We would get beaten by 25 points every game easily. Just wait till next year when we don't have any experienced PG play. Diante is NOT the reason we lose games like this, we lose games because we can't get any stops. We lose games because we don't cover Pullen on a 3 in the last minute off the screen, or we allow someone like Spradling that averages 6 a game to light us up. We lose because we allow damn near 90 points at home every time out and when we are on a run we couldn't stop a high school team from scoring. DG is a great player, he is not perfect, no college player is. To pick out the 3 or 4 plays he makes mistakes a game when he has the ball 50% of the time and is our entire offense is ridiculous. Losing him after this year is a major major blow.

I'm not blaming anyone affiliated with this years team in any way. Honestly, we're playing teams competitively which is something I never would have thought with as little as Mac had left. DG was so so the last couple seasons and his play has dramatically changed in one season. Fred is going to win a lot of games next season with a full roster, until then I'm going to look forward to the next game on the schedule and know we'll at least have a chance to win. Something I haven't felt over the last 4 seasons.

Refs are supposed to swallow their whistles in the final minute.

I like this post. 100% correct.
The Texas or Ohio St T-shirt fans will never fully know the absolute joy of something like an ISU bowl win or a NCAA tourney win. Its sweeter than candy.
