Kitty Litter in Schools?

What I was told was Ankeny, North Polk, and West Marshall.

West Marshall? In that liberal utopia, State Center? Yeah, guess I can see it.

Also, if this is truly a thing in Ankeny, you gotta know the newly elected school board is NOT gonna be quiet about it (unless it slips their minds while they’re searching the elementary school library for porn).

I refused to believe it the first time I was told this, but have been told by three different people, that I generally trust, that schools are putting kitty litter in their restrooms due to students identifying as cats.

What I was told is that 2 schools in Central Iowa have already done this and one more is being threatened with a lawsuit from the parents to do it. Was told that one of the schools at least claimed it was unsanitary for staff to clean so were requiring the parents to come into school and clean the litter box that has been set up for their children.

(Mods - if this needs to be moved to another forum, go for it)
I thought this was going to be about the TikTok trend of kitty litter being used when kids puked in schools

I tell the ladies that I'm a horse.

Not buying this story.

Do you not think that school districts either have lawyers or lawyers on contract for anything they need them for? It's budgeted and while I'm sure they don't want to have to deal with frivolous lawsuits, it's their job and they are prepared for it. Also, if you file a frivolous suit and lose you usually have to pay the other sides legal fees.

You guys all have some serious growing up to do.

Yes I understand that but as an employee in education I can tell you that the threat of kids/families leaving due to heresay is real and it happens. This includes some parent going off on FB and staff being put on leave as a result.

It's not a political thing or whatever; parents struggle with the concept of relationships within the community and have no problem throwing anyone under the bus that doesn't meet their 'expectations'.

It's not a new thing but it is definitely enhanced by things like social media for sure or even emails since that's a way to go around actual direct interaction.

Is it a new challenge?

I thought we'd bottomed out with the 'passenger jet toilet lick' challenge at the beginning of Covid, but here we are.

Rumor spreading/gossiping Facebook parent Karens are the best.

Seems like a “my freedom” thing.

Having cleaned lots of bathrooms as a lifeguard and waitress, litter on the floor for those with bad aim doesn’t seem like a bad idea.
