And, frankly, if he doesn't play on Friday it seems pretty unlikely that he'd be anywhere near 100% on Sunday.
I do think he'll play and I know if he is at all capable, he'll play. But him being out would really, really suck.

I mean, this makes sense. Well documented that our players took less to stay ( or come in the first place). I can see this happening and now with players having some leverage( some times too much), make a demand or I’m not playing. If that happened, kudos to TJ for moving on.

You want to give those fast twitch muscles every possible hour to heal as much as possible. Common sense not to throw him out there for live speed practice. I wouldn't be surprised if early in the first game we see Lipsey deferring a lot on the offensive end of the floor. Keep that groin as healthy as possible. Break glass in case of emergency type of attitude.

NIL in theory is good, but NIL in reality in it's current form isn't NIL. Unfortunately the NCAA didn't put rules in place because they knew those rules would be challenged and overturned so it's a free for all. It is what it is and there's no going back now.
To think his injury is so severe he can't even travel with the team away from Ames is crazy. I'm stupid but do we have some sort of rehab technology in Ames he doesn't have access to while traveling? Even if he's not playing you'd think he would want to be with the team. I hope I'm wrong and it's not an attitude thing, that would be disappointing.

Hey, we finally agree on something 100%.
I just can't believe we've come this far where we've essentially got family members holding coaches and collectives hostage for money(if this rumor is true of course).
It's turned shady to very dark quickly, especially with some of the stuff I've been reading about the Devries situation. I don't think he's quite the Saint people make him out to be and it makes me question how he turned Drake around so fast.

Once the revenue-sharing era begins, there's a good chance this issue will be weeded out (others, who knows). With schools effectively employing players out in the open, smart schools with even a bit of leverage (so, P4 schools, or at least ones competitive in their respective conferences) will include postseason participation in contracts, at least if they believe that matters.
Even if the Gilbert thing is money-related—and I'm not saying I believe that—I'm still not sure that would be a big deal. In the NIL era, players are mercenaries. I'm of the opinion this whole thing should be dropped. I do think Gilbert is seriously injured. And I'm grateful for his two seasons and will look back fondly on them. But—call me a boomer, that's fine (I'm not)—I wasn't in the "Cyclone legend" camp even before all this. He was here for two years and got paid like everyone else. Lipsey and Watson fit the bill much more, if you're someone who grants such status—four years for even one player in a program is almost unheard of nowadays. ISU likely couldn't afford to pay Gilbert, but if the rumor is true I'm glad they didn't. If players are mercenaries then collectives (currently) have to operate like franchises, and forking over thousands for a player who's already at 80% would've been dumb

First, I won't get into this rumor until I have a solid confirmation it's true.
Secondly, family members have actively shopped kids around forever (Cam Newton, Tyrese Hunter, etc) it's nothing new and it's not going anywhere.
Thirdly, it's pretty sad to me a when a kid can't stand up to their parent's and tell them to butt out. Growing up in a small town I saw parent's pressuring coaches and such from my classmates parents. I flat out told my parent's as a Jr. in high school that if they ever acted like those other parents they wouldn't be welcome to watch me at my sporting event's.
Maybe they want to keep the medical staff that's traveling with the team 100% focused on guys that are still playing? I don't think it's insane to imagine that Jones/Heise & maybe even Kelderman give us a better chance to win than 50% (or whatever it may be) Gilbert. If they've made that decision, why tie up our traveling medical squad on Gilbert's rehab, when he can probably get more/better rehab care back in Ames?
