If we almost beat Houston we shouldn't need them for OSU, theoretically. I'd rather rest them again if we can. Wish we could rest Lipsey too, he always seems to be hurt somewhere.

I want them to play as much as they can together going into march here. So if they can go, they should go.

Sitting Keshon gives him an extended time to heal nagging injuries, play CuJo if he is well enough as it is unlikely to have a long-term effect on his health. Don't know if Lipsey's thumb is getting any better, but he sure has shot better lately. Him not bringing the ball up much until last game when he had to seems to have helped the situation.

Ball movement was way better against Houston. Even though Jefferson didn't score much, he was doing an excellent job of facilitating. We get that type of ball movement the rest of the year, we are in a great spot offensively. Yes, we only scored 59 points, but that was against an elite defense.

On the other hand there's film now for what ISU did without them for OSU to use.

I'm hoping Jones comes back and is enough and Gilbert can get right for Saturday.

Busse on with Miller and Condon:
Said Jones is on antibiotics.
Said Gilbert is pretty sore/tender (knees/groin).

Said both are traveling to OSU.
Unsure if either is good to go.

Wonder if it's strep for Jones? That takes antibiotics and can clear relatively quickly.

I didn't read the rest of this thread until today, but I kind of feel like a few posters owe a certain Mr. Kelderman an apology. He played limited minutes but took care of the ball and played some pretty fair defense. He did not look like he didn't belong. Good for him!

Frankly I was glad that TJ showed confidence in both Cade and Nojus giving both of them early minutes. Two more guys in TJ's system who stay ready even when sitting for month(s) and are ready to contribute when their number is called.

New game plan: Have Jones visit the OK State team. Jones coughs in his hand and immediately starts to shake the hands of OK State players

Would have have to do that like last Thursday. Damn.

*and he's probably not contagious any more anyhow. Double damn.

I'm not a doctor but I think this is encouraging? Antibiotics treat bacterial infections, yes? so likely not influenza or norovirus. Whatever has plagued Illinois for like a month seems viral. My gut says rest him and Gilbert, but offensive efficiency is going the wrong way recently and you probably aren't putting up 90 against Arizona. Play Jones at 75% if it's unlikely to set him back

I used to be able to overcome strep on my own when I was younger but anymore I can't beat it without a visit to the doctor. It just hangs around and gets worse (if possible). That said the best thing for strep symptoms is prednisone. That steroid can knock that strep down in a matter of hours. Sometimes you can see a noticable improvement in as little as 90 minutes from your first dose.

I just know when I've had strep, antibiotics make it not contagious after 48 hoursish and I was on the mend 2-3 days after starting them.
