keep it classy booker

I have less of a problem with the foul than what he did afterwards and find it hard to believe any true ISU fan condones what he did. It reflects bad on Iowa State and the entire team. Especially when you see tweets like, "#IowaState are a real classy bunch". Hoiberg sets the standard for class, and this definitely does not hold up to the standard.

Condone? No. But it is what it is. He apologized, his coach may still have something in store for him, the fans can beat him up on message boards, our rivals can point to it and make statements about our classiness that aren't true and the state newspaper can lead with this instead of acknowledging the accomplishments of the team. All unnecessary but realtities that come from one simple mistake, a 24/7 news cycle and the Internet.

I would have chimed in earlier but I was beating my kids with my dog...

Hahahahaha Love it

I don't have kids, but sometimes when Iowa State loses I get real drunk and beat my dog.

Some would say that's taking it too seriously. I call it PASSION.

I can't believe how many princesses we have here! The correct comment is "Why did Booker give them the finger? He's only giving half the effort! He should have given them both fingers!"

I hope all of you excusing his behavior weren't the same people freaking out about Elijah Johnson's dunk.

I don't have a big problem with either action, but still think Booker needs some sort of punishment (from
ISU) so the university can show they care about how their representatives act.
I was not excusing the behavior, I was joking about it. I think there is a difference.

Booker comes from St. Louis. How would you turn out, if you came from St. Louis? I don't want to excuse the behavior, just notice where it comes from. If we want to recruit kids from St. Louis, we are going to get a few birds. (This is excusing his behavior.)

This is booker's most serious transgression since he came to ISU? It's bad. Real bad. He needs to be kicked off the team, and the NCAA needs to step in and give him a life ban from basketball. Now no professional team anywhere in the world is ever going to give him a chance because of his serious character issues. He may have completed his degree, but even if he wants an office job, no employer will ever hire him. Employers look at these things. Good luck working at McDonald's, Anthony.

It was dumb & he said sorry. Move on. This isnt the storyline we need to be talking about going in to KC.

Well yes anytime you lose your temper it isn't good and an apology is warranted. He flipped of some students taunting him and lost his cool in the heat of the moment. Well Ithe have, it happens, apparently doc has never done anything he regretted in a heated moment. I accepted elijahs apology and i accept bookers. Do you think elijaj should have been punished outside of some internal running? Of course not, and niether should booker. Happens again or anger became a real issue than yeah maybe something. But not now, no different then rhoads f bombs caught on tape....

It looked to me like he was intending to give the peace symbol but did it so fast that he just didn't get the other finger up. Honest mistake.

JFC. Yeah, I've never done anything I regretted.

I don't personally give a crap that Booker flipped off their crowd. I also didn't care that Elijah dunked the ball or Releford grabbed his nuts when half the board was wanting to string them up. What I'm trying to say is that, as a university, you cannot completely let something like this go, because you can't afford to have your athletes acting like this on a consistent basis.

It's an isolated incident, but it's also something that you can't let your guys do every time they go back to the bench in a hostile environment, and because of that I think you treat as you would if it was the 5th time a guy flipped an opposing crowd this season.

You have to be able to control your emotions in that situation. If that was a player on any other team we would be ripping the crap out of him.

Oh I'm sure there would be the typical whiners. Too many frickin' babies on these message boards. You know the players might even swear at each other? Out loud even.

No way in hell would I call for an opposing teams player to be suspended for flipping the bird at our crowd. You know why? Because it's stupid.

Thats fine. but you have to be held accountable for your actions. 1 game suspension so everyone sees something happened and then we get over it. Booker is eligible for the tourny. No problems with the league

If they are serious, yes. For this? No.

And why do you think you have to "see" something happen? Fred can't handle it himself without informing you?

He should get his butt chewed for the stupid foul.

It's not a personal thing. It's the action being shown on TV. Im 100% with you. People are too sensative. But to get this under the rug and beneficial to us, got to be a 1 game suspension

I agree that Booker deserves it. However, like I say, I don't think it will do him any good. If he gets suspended, I won't complain, but he needs a vote of confidence more than a suspension. This is a guess, from watching the year. I don't like these things to happen anymore than anyone else, and to be frank, the push bothered me much more than the petty thing on the bench. Those kind of stupid acts on the court need to end. If the other team is doing rotten crap to you, you have to learn it isn't about that, it is about who wins the game.

Agreed. Gibson is rough on the floor too. It seems like Booker is a more savvy player. Niang has more presence but Gibson just throws shoulders around. Thats not a bad thing but if we can stay out of foul trouble with Niang and Ejim we would be fine

Understand. I think a suspension for this would be too much. A good butt-chewing is good enough for me with a don't do this stupid stuff anymore.

Is this for real? Get over it. Fans and players from other teams interact at times and they aren't talking about how much respect they have for each other. West Virginia is a sickening fan base. They talked up their basketball team so much because they came from the Big East. They thought they were going to come in and clean up. Their football team can mouth off to Wally B and it wasn't a big deal but Booker does this gesture and its a big deal. (sorry got off topic for a bit) I don't get it. Ideally you wouldn't want him to do it. It sucked TV caught it, he wasn't trying to create a scene just giving the crowd a quick gesture. I think future employers will get over it. I like the passion from Booker. He just needs to direct that passion only to playing.
