So Thuney is getting traded. They will resign Smith. Kelce is coming back. I'd like to see Bolton and Reid come back as well, but I don't think we can afford everyone. Will be an interesting off season.
So we now have to replace the left side of the OL, great... Hope they can hit on some draft picks or get help through a trade for that because they probably do not have the cap space to be in on the top guys there in free agency.

I get they need draft picks because they are cheap, but how can the Eagles resign guys like Barkley and stay under the cap, but the Chiefs cannot. I read in the Athletic that the roster the Eagles fielded for the SB cost them over $320 million of contracts, but they were under the $260 million cap. How is that legal, to keep pushing salaries down the line, and when is it going to catch up to them.

The NFL salary cap is so complicated I don't understand how its possible either. I guess if your org is able to find someone able to manipulate the cap and stay competitive those people are probably in high demand and paid well for it.

Maybe not bad the way it is working. Thuney will be 33, Smith is 25. Can't pay them both (and Creed Humphrey). Keep the younger talent. But hopefully they already have the outline of a long term deal negotiated with Smith's agent.

I agree, I think this signals they have something in the works to sign Smith long term. But the concerning thing is we had to play Thuney at LT because we had issues there, now we have holes at LT, LG and the liability that Taylor is at RT that we are stuck with for at least 1 more season. If they don't address the left side of the line with some quality guys I fear what we saw in the SB with Mahomes having little to no time in the pocket is going to be a season long issue. We got by with it a bit but against a quality pash rush like the Eagles had we got exposed.

It's always cash vs cap. You can throw a lot of up front cash to lure players in and spread that hit over multiple years. The cap always goes up, so while they may look to be in a bind, it may not be that bad by the time the bill truly comes due.

Yep, teams keep kicking the can. And if/when the overall team performance starts to slip, and the org thinks the window is closed/closing, you dump everything, and let all of that dead money hit at once. You're awful for a year or so, but come out the other side with lots of cap room and a bunch of high draft picks, ready to restock and make another run.

I don't want Bolton back. He wasn't good last year. I think his body is breaking down. He was a 3-4 year starter at Mizzou and has been using his body as a missile for a while. Its catching up with him. I'd be surprised if he's back.

Everyone has the ability to work around the cap. As long as everyone can do it I don't look at it as cheating the system. All you have to do is move the salary money into signing bonuses. You just have to have unselfish players want to be part of your organization. Some guys want it all on salary because of their egos.

No charges are going to be filed on Worthy. It also looks like the new stadium will be built next to 435 on the opposite side of the speedway. TBH that is a perfect spot except it's not in Missouri. Only about 10-15 minutes from my place though !!!!

Don't hate the move. Looked alright at LT when he filled in for an injured Trent Williams.
Had to get someone right? Still wouldn't surprise me if they look for OL help in the draft if the right guy is there. Don't really know who they would target but still have a hole at LG and never hurts to have depth across the line in general.

Sounds like Kingsley may be going to end up at LG. He played reasonably well there in the last game of the season, so they are penciling him in for now. Definitely still need to draft OL, though.

Man, I really wanted the Chiefs to find a way to land DK.

Surprised they paid Bolton. I was ready to find a hungry youngster in the draft.
