Medians have rock and mulch (looks like each may have a tree planted in the middle).

Finishing the sidewalk early this morning. I expected that, they were working on the framing pretty late last night.
When I think about it, it’s hardly surprising they’d have a sidewalk from the center of CyTown to the Alimni Center, is it?
Also will let them finish sodding right off the bat next week.

Yes, each median has a tree in it.
I don't know why they didn't just pave the medians instead of the rock/mulch idea.
I’m guessing it is because this is no longer a tailgate lot like many of us think of it as. It’s an entertainment and retail district…
I dunno. Looks like they’re being broken in with some OG tailgating.

Because trees actually need water to be able to soak through?
Road my bike down there this morning. Lots of an activity with pouring concrete. Sidewalks and the road between Hilton and JTS. Moving dirt. Saw were they took some of the asphalt from the old lots and recycled it and put it on the gravel paths in the haunted forest.

How much rain has Ames gotten? Or is dry? The haunted Forest lots are fun people watching trying to get out of there when it rains hard.
It's been quite dry for the past several weeks, with no significant precip forecasted between now and gameday. Grass lots will be good to go.
What’s fun are the guys with pull behind campers. They are the ones that tear it up. I think they may have solved that now. After adding rock to the driveway the last 4-5 years and now adding the crushed asphalt on top of that . I don’t know what the east end is like.
Still need a storm water plan.
And use of asphalt is basically to save money for "good enough." Concrete will last a lot longer but at least a few years ago asphalt was significantly cheaper, less labor intensive to install, and ready to go a LOT sooner. Of course the trade off is maintenance is significantly more expensive with crack fill, seal coating, etc. if you want said asphalt to last
Anyone walked on the rock in the medians? Wonder if rock will be used in the larger areas.
