Diversion, perversion—it’s all the same around here, right? With very little going on at the stadium, a little diversion is always welcome.

I hear you on being old. I used to eat at a sub shop that was next to that KwikShop and the sorority/rooming house I lived at is now an apartment complex. I don’t remember what was above the bar, maybe a fast food place. I think there was a Taco Bell there before the Dunkin Donut. To be sure I knew where you were talking about, I checked Google Earth. Turns out I’m old—the little KwikShop (and the whole block) is gone.
To be fair, the old rooming house I once lived in at Ash & Lincoln Way is long gone.
Oh. And to be on topic, I’m quite disappointed I missed seeing the long boom stretch for that pour. I’ve been watching guys wander around the walkways, doing nothing that I can see on my phone.

That Duncan Donuts is where the old Felix and Oscar's Pizza resided. I remember the sub shop by the KwikShop. When I lived on Campus Ave we would run over at halftime of the noon NFL game and get a sandwich. Being that halftime was 30 minutes way back when you could get there and back most days before the 2nd half kickoff.I hear you on being old. You probably know this, but the webcam spools the last 12 hours if you want to go back and watch it. They poured from about 8:35 to 9:15. By the way, that was a “big” pumper truck! I counted 6 sets of wheels on it when it left.
I remember a video game arcade being above one of those, maybe after Darkstar closed.I hear you on being old. It's crazy how many different businesses have been in that area over the years. The building just south of the Dunkin Donuts was a grocery store and I think also a auto parts store and now looks like some type of church?I remember a video game arcade being above one of those, maybe after Darkstar closed.
Thanks for the tip!

It was Cylone Inn before that and can't remember before that.I hear you on being old. Hy Vee
Don't think that was ever a HyVee. The oldest HyVee in Ames was where the Dollar Tree is on Duff. I think the supermarket behind where Dunkin is was an old IGA or SuperValu.
Better regroup as there was a HyVee in that spot.Don't think that was ever a HyVee. The oldest HyVee in Ames was where the Dollar Tree is on Duff. I think the supermarket behind where Dunkin is was an old IGA or SuperValu.
See that upper deck for the south endzone? I've heard stories of full kegs being hoisted up by ropes. What a beautiful sight it must have been.AWESOME picture! Can just feel the energy oozing out of that place. Remember when students were passed from the front to the back? Always seemed to happen in 2nd half as I recall.
That's a good omen. Here’s a diversion that is somewhat related. On Saturday, we saw a fox on the west side of the stadium. Went up the main stairs on the right, went past the tribute wall, and back down the main stairs in the left. Then jaunted toward Reiman Gardens, including a run the stone wall.
