Final prodect will probably look like this since it's what Pollard tweeted out a couple weeks ago

I admit, I’m trying to align this image with what I’m seeing going on today.

Apparently a couple of guys worked late last night on the former Olsen Building site so that they could lay down some gravel on it...so a couple of pickups could park on it today?

I can’t tell if that’s the patches of green or the concrete patio in these renderings.

This is my guess. It's the sub surface for the patio and grass plots in the plaza. Maybe a couple ISU construction engineers could lend a hand to this finance major

I'm guessing that it's temporary for equipment for work on the concourse "bridge" and the front of the Jacobson Building. The plaza area shouldn't take too long to construct, you'd think....

They had steam rollers packing it down. I'd be shocked it's temporary. My guess is drainage, like what was mentioned above. That would also explain the gravel around the base of the retaining walls and near where the tunnel extension will be.

Could be. We've also seen at least 4-5 different renderings for that plaza area, so I'm convinced it's going to be something completely different than what we've seen..

You'd be surprised. The amount of money I've spent on installing temporary gravel haul roads on project would probably make people sick.

In all reality, the rock is most likely fill/subgrade for whatever is going in on top of of (paving, etc). It also serves the dual benefit of giving the contractor more laydown area as well as preventing the site from turning into a massive muddy mess as spring approaches, helping to minimize the trackout onto the roads.

This is gonna be sweet
A TOTALLY unimportant question here, but do people think they will actually paint logos on the hillsides like in the rendering above? I think it looks great, but I assume with people sitting on the hillsides that might be a little bit of artistic license?

I know they paint the grass on the field and players play all over it, but that's maybe not quite the same as having people sitting on it the whole game. Plus if hillside fans are covering it up, maybe it's a pointless thing to do anyway. Still, it would look nice when there's nobody up there.

I suspect there will be no logos on the hillsides. Grass grows best without being painted; that’s why our end zones only have the letters painted.

I'd be upset if I had hill seats and there was paint on it and staining my butt.

Who cares. Hills suck. Fight me.
But but kids like to play football in them. Yeah I been to games watched maybe 1 ball getting tossed for about 10 mins until they realize it sucks trying to play on a crowded hill on a 45 degree slope. That is going to be steeper after this years mods. Sure I might take my kids this year might let them sit on the hills to try it, but if they weren't there it wouldn't matter. If there was a family/JrCy club zone I would still take them and they would probably like it better than sitting on a slope of muddy grass that is cold and wet and probably crowded this year. But my guess they will still not care, would like a kid/family section better. And will hate it after 1 game if not half way through the first game, a family friendly section with kid friendly area would actually be a better draw for kids and families.

I grew up a Cyclone fan...didn't have to play on the hills to be one, never went to a game until I went to school there, but still was a fan all my life.
Hills aren't iconic, they are cheap and make the stadium look half finished, and turn into mud slides on wet days.

I have never liked the hills, I never will. And I have been a fan all my life. Grass belongs on the field not in the stands.

We've had season tickets near the NW hill for 12 years.Your second sentence is totally false.

I don’t think the new version of the hillsides will be steeper. I also wouldn’t call them iconic. But, they do serve a purpose and I’ll disagree on the half finished opinion. I think it will look great.

No doubt with unlimited money, even Pollard would do it differently. But what we are going to get will be nice enough.

Not in my experience, I see a ball come out randomly, that gets tossed around for a few minutes and that is it. And if the hills are sold out there is not going to be room for that anymore either. Hills suck.
