I don't know what it's like now, but I had heard in the past when I was living in Ames/Iowa that Ames cops could be complete ******** towards ISU students in general and specifically student-athletes.
IMO, there are some cops (not all by any stretch of the imagination) who would be petty criminals themselves if they weren't in uniform and who do get off on power trips. From a couple of stories I have heard about the Ames PD, they do have some bad apples that fit with what I described above.

The transfers may have needed new scenery because the schools they were at were not a good fit anymore. This may be the case for Railey, as he just may not fit in Ames. My guess is that will be decided soon.
Have people here really never gotten into a fight with a friend and stayed friends after? I feel like I'm reading a forum with a bunch of little girls right now who are still at that stage where they outcast their friend in HS because they drank or smoked.
I'm pretty surprised by how many people here don't seem to understand what happens at Veishea... or college for that matter.
He isn't getting kicked off the team for a scuffle with a friend, and cops just happened to be in the area because everyone is out and about this week.
Jebus he didn't commit a real crime. Its not like its a regular thing either, I would be more concerned with him doing when it wasn't holidays. Athletes deserve breaks and to have fun too.

I have mixed it up with a friend while drunk and stupid. Everything was fine the next day. We still laugh about it.
Some individuals have higher expectations for young adults who represent the university that they support. Trajedy strikes at times when we least expect it, and I hope no one here has to experience an acohol related one to force a harsh reality. It may be time for young Mr Railey to move on. Maybe CFH will give him a wake-up call that will do him some good in the long run.

From reading some of the posts on here, you wonder if some people have ever been out of their parents' basement. Its amazing how simplistic and black and white some people appear to see things, based on their posts.
Plus, some people just get off on the idea of a coach "making an example" and kicking players off the team. If you listen to some of these posts, some of these fans would trade being known as the team with the harshest discipline in the nation for a Big 12 Title.
I didn't change my tune at all. I pointed out the fact that its more worrisome to me for a player to get in a fight with his teammate uptown than a disorderly conduct ticket would be. That is no change whatsoever, its my opinion.

Teammates fight sober or drunk....it happens and then they get over it....my current roommate is a past Iowa State basketball player and have lived with 2 other past players. They would get heated with each other quite often, I have seen it myself off the court in college....its no big deal and it never was a deal because there were no cops around.
Yes Jordan should have smarter about his actions that night but I would place a very big wager that someone on this message board that wants Jordan off the team has had more then one alcohol related run in with the law. The kid is in college, let him enjoy himself a little bit.

Ames cops suck...pretty much the only thing I don't miss about ISU and ames...they love to bust college kids for minor things that any other town or village cops would let go or give a verbal warning. I still have hate for the Asian butch lesbian cop, pretty sure she was a Ames cop not a campus cop. Hate that *****
He already has to the potential detriment of others. He is underage with a DUI, and had another alcohol related incident a few months later. You are right that these things happen, and there are players getting kicked off teams for breaking the law and team rules at other schools across the country. He is 19 years old and should/will be held accountable for his actions.

You demonstrated your maturity level quite nicely in many of your earlier posts, so I am not surprised by your continued deflection. But I am guessing that if you truely have an education from ISU, you will be able to get from point A to B without a tantrum.
I haven't deflected anything, nor did I deflect anything in that post you quoted, I reponded directly to your pointless question. Your pointless question was a deflection itself though, as you equated my statement that I was more worried about him fighting a teammate than a disorderly conduct ticket as indication that I had changed my original views, which I clearly had not, nor had I stated anything that would imply that.
As far as maturity level, your belief that a college kid drinking is a sign of "moral degradation" tells me all I need to know about where your view of "maturity level" comes from. I'm not concerned about the judgment of anyone with that lame of an outlook on life.
