JJeff Injury Updates

I think too much of the time our team believed the offense needed to go through Jefferson. With him off the floor, other players might feel more freedom to create and initiate offense. I hadn't seen that about the analytics, but I wouldn't be surprised. That's not to dispute that good J-Jeff is a phenomenal player.
Understandably against weak competition, but I loved the aggressiveness from Heise and Toure. Unlocking close to that for the remaining game(s) could likely make up for no JJ.

When I was 11 years old in 1992 I sprained my ankle at a basketball tournament in Marshall town, had to sit out 2 days.

Treatment recommended by the coaching staff ( one accountant and one engineer) was to get a slice of pizza at the concessions and to put some robitussin on it…so…I don’t expect JJ to play Sunday.
It had better have been Zeno's pizza otherwise this is a fake story.

With or without JJ, Heise and or Toure being aggressive was necessary to get beyond a sweet 16 in my opinion. They don’t need to be elite like they were yesterday, just aggressive attacking the rim and catching and shooting with confidence.

Maybe this will be the perfect storm of the injury unlocking two critical guys’ aggression to another level, then JJ comes back on Friday and can go at 80-90%.

I think we got to look at the positives & be thankful for them

For example…

Thankfully JJ isn’t a horse. You think it was tough watching the replay and seeing TJ’s emotion on the sidelines…

Now imagine TJ having to walk down there with his rifle and put JJ down.

That would have been really devastating.

That’s really all the positive thoughts I’ve got right now

We don't need either of them thinking they're a star; just don't hesitate when the play is there. Play with confidence.

xr4 wins the thread.

He couldn’t walk off the court, he’s done. I’ll happily eat crow if I’m wrong but a sprain like that is 3-4 weeks recovery at best
Anytime you have any type of ankle injury you never supposed to put any weight on it. if you keep the swelling down and the right treatment it is amassing with the way they treat it you definitely have a chance to be playing next week. Depending on the injury may not be playing tomorrow.

Every ankle sprain is different, so we really don't know. But if it's bad enough that they were taking X-rays, I would think there's little chance of him playing tomorrow. Even if he was able to play at 75%, it would be wise to sit him and let it heal better.

47 minutes? Don’t think we went to double OT today but maybe I was watching another game

Analytics show our net efficiency is better with JJ on the bench but that’s because he was so inconsistent this year. If good JJ was going to show up this tourney that’s a huge loss but not sure if that’s what we were gonna get or not
I’m not sure what you’re looking at but this is blatantly false.

Yes! ISU only has two starters who can consistently score in the half court, with JJ being one. We also need his interior defense and rebounding. If he doesn’t play tomorrow, Pleta will need to step up and stay out of foul trouble. The key will be keeping UK off the offensive glass.

He acknowledged yesterday in his locker room interview that coming back at 50% wouldn’t be beneficial to the team so I think he’ll use good judgement on whether to play tomorrow or not.

His mom also had a vaguely optimistic tweet either late last night or this morning.

I'm trying to imagine a scenario of a significant ankle injury where they wouldn't do the x-ray. I don't think he'll play tomorrow, but I wouldn't bet against next week if we advance.
