Jimmy Butler

He almost killed the ISU basketball program, sooo, yeah I'm not going to let that go.

Yeah, 'not letting go' is different than pointing out that a coach didn't do much with plenty of talent. I'd also say it's accurate to assume Jimmy Butler's presence wouldn't have mattered much considering nothing happened with the line ups available.

That's proven further in Hoiberg's 1st year when he went .500 with essentially a bare cupboard.

Pretty sure his girlfriend used to post on CF as TheFutureMrsClark or something. Or am I thinking of another player's girlfriend?

It was her. Or so she claimed. I don't think it was the girl he married a few years later though.

Hey, Lickliter almost killed the Iowa program, and I don't care about him at all.

Alford, on the other hand. **** that guy, because 1. Pierre Pierce, 2. *********, and 3. Northwestern State.

Great. You guys have managed to make Jimmy Butler the ISU version of Tyler Ullis and the Hoks. I have a feeling we'll be talking about Jimmy Butler for years now...

I was a new poster on this site back in those days, and back then there was a dislike button in addition to a like button. I posted in a thread about how terrible McDermott was doing given the talent level and asserted his players were afraid to play and make a mistake. I GOT KILLED with dislikes. Afterwards, Rashon Clark's girlfriend PM'd me and told me my thought was correct. That Rashon was afraid to even shoot the ball.

She was a mess though

Funny thing has always been that the one team I liked from Alford was his last one that screwed up.

I always felt like he deflated the program with trying to make the culture something it wasn't with the 'Hawks' nest', etc. or whatever he was trying to label everything.

There's probably some out there still waiting for Raef to change his mind...

He actually coached one more year after the Northwestern St. upset and missed the tournament.

Ah, got it. Was thinking he left as McDermott was coming in.

Obviously not a memorable season, but Steve's teams generally underperformed IIRC. I remember they made the NCAA's one year because of a Big Ten tourney run.

That team was actually pretty good until Luke Recker got hurt (17-6 before dropping 6 of last 7 regular season games, then winning 4 games in 4 days and then getting a first round NCAA win over Creighton). He had a lot of teams that underachieved, but that one wasn't one of them, IMO.

Didn't Rahshon Clark post here too? And wasnt he and his fiancée on, like, some TLC engagement reality show where they competed for a dream wedding or something? Was that the same girl?

Only until Emanual Malou is tearing it up in the Rising Stars challenge at All Star weekend next February. Then it'll be all about what could have been with Malou...

Jimmy would have been nice to have, but he wasn't near the star in college that he is now.
