Jeff Orr...Super fan?

That comment was in reference to the video that was posted where he makes facial expressions and the arm expression to a player, so bravo on not understanding. So please, quote where I said it is ok to make racist comments.

And I have no idea what was said, neither do you or anyone on social media claiming to know what he said.

You said it was OK to flip the bird to a college player like Jeff Orr - this is disgusting behavior. The vast majority of Cyclone fans despise this kind obnoxious act and I believe it should be justification for being removed from the arena.

You

Sportscenter reported that the Texas Tech TV announcers said they heard Smart and other OSU players saying the guy called him the N word. I tend to believe this because I don't think Smart and the other players that heard it could have "collaberated a made-up story" that quickly.

Several sources have reported this but some of the knuckleheads around here are in denial. I guess we'll hear more or less at the press conference which I'm sure will be prepared speeches. Not sure how much Bowlsby has been involved in any decisions since he's in Sochi.

Regardless of what was said, Smart went into the stands and shoved a fan. End of story.

No one is condoning what the fan said (sounds like the guy is a seasoned trash talker), but c'mon, can you imagine if an opposing player taunted a fan after a big play and the fan ran onto the court?!

This. Whatever the fan said, just move along. Beat him by beating his team, or just being above that guy.
Based on the 'superfan's' history, rising above that guy isn't too difficult.

All very true, but this is also a 19-20 year old kid, fighting for a badly needed win and in the heat of battle. If we all thought things thru before we reacted, nobody would get in trouble. A lot of us have thought things thru and still got in trouble. Yes a player can't react and has to pay the price when he does, but I can see how it happens, especially if something terrible was said to him.

Did you expect something different?

I didn't really know. I thought there might be an explanation or effort to justify what he did, or a canned and scripted apology we often get. But I didn't get that impression from him at all, seemed genuine.

Not sure if Orr said anything racist, but I'm sure he verbally abused Smart for the entire game, and then verbally abused him while he was lying on the ground at the end. I don't think it would be hard for Smart to recognize his voice at that point. I'm guessing he said ******* flopper, or something like that, and that was the tipping point.

Both made bad decisions, and Orr is a major league ******.

For what it is worth, from the sampling I have with TTU fans they are just as unhappy with how their fan acted.

sounds like it was just 'piece of crap'

A new video angle. Sounds like Orr does say 'You're a piece of......" Not sure about the last word.

Edit: Oops......somebody beat me to it. Oh well, it's there twice now.

My hearing is not as good as others I'm sure. I get the "You're a piece of"....and maybe it is another word for crap. Whatever the last word was, that is not enough to jump up and push a fan. Not even close.

Didn't Melvin flip off the BYU crowd this year?

Thanks for the link. Sounds to me like Smart needs to apologize to Orr for lying about the "racial slur."

Yes because calling somebody a piece of crap is something Orr should be proud of. We have no idea what Orr may have said during the game or what Smart thought he heard, but Smart has apologized for what he did. Maybe Orr has also apologized, but if he hasn't, he should for instigating the whole thing. He might even want to apologize for calling somebody a piece of crap (or whatever he said) just because he's trying to win a basketball game.
