A crash has closed 35 North just north of the Missouri border. Presumably weather related.
 
Thankfully I don't have to go to work now. The way the Chiefs are playing I am drinking a lot more than I should on a Sunday Night.

Worst case scenario, we find a good Hill and all go sliding using our nut cups.
 
Was anyone in Ames for the big Ice Storm in 08 or 09 (can't remember the year). Cancelled classes and had some bad ass dining hall tray sledding on the big hall at the disc golf course by the Ice Arena.

Yep. One of the most unsettling things was watching a cyride, wheels locked, slide slowly and casually the entire way down the hill on Union Drive south of Gerdin.
 
Put a layer of brine on the driveway. Looks like it's keeping the ice from adhering to the surface pretty well. Should make removal much easier. Vehicle has a thick coat of ice on it already. Going to have to run the remote start quite a while to get the ice melting enough to clear the windows. Glad I can work from home as needed.

Closed the right lane only and as of 6 minutes ago only causing a 2 minute delay. Your post made it sound much worse so I figured I'd clarify.
 
Looks pretty icy outside my window. Should probably not go to work tomorrow me thinks.
 
Was just outside, my surfing skills kicked and saved me from falling. Made a mix of kitty litter, ice melt, and had to go out and get some sand from the sand box. Pretty good mix laid down. Wife had pretty much used 20 lbs last week on the drive way last week, so to say we had a lot of residual left was an understatement. Kinda surreal out with no traffic and no precip coming down. May have to break out the table and kosher salt out of the kitchen cabinet if it gets worse out!
 
Big Monday, Kansas, Ranked #1, at Hilton....and an ice storm keeps anyone from getting to the game.

Spanky, snot-on-the-doorknob slick out there. Hopefully, it will warm a few degrees and get the main roads going. The issue will be getting from the parking lot into Hilton tonight.
 
Made it to work in DSM. West side to east side but not much traffic yet. Side streets are horrific but main streets and 235 just very slow. Car really shimmied on 235 making a lane change.
