J.J. Kohl

What the hell is our fan obsession with anyone who has a modicum of relationship with ISU? It’s like we think the super model won’t speak to us, so let’s ask out the mildly cute home town bar waitress because she smiled at us when we ordered the bucket of Busch.

OP, nothing personal. But we constantly sell ourselves short with dreams of people who have no credible qualification except they attended ISU. It’s like we are cool on a sinking ship as long as it’s painted cardinal and gold.

Kohl rode the pine at App State. Dude wasn’t trusted to beat Marshall. Why would he come here and beat TCU?

Won't be surprised if all three QBs transfer.
I actually would be. Given that two are from the state of Iowa and grew up Cyclone fans. I assume if there is a starting job that opens up (if Rocco did transfer) that one of the two backups would have a good chance to win a starting job and want to stay.

0/3 might leave
1/3 might leave
2/3 might leave
3/3 might leave

All four options are possible. To say one is less or more surprising, eh... It's just blindfold dartboard throws at this point. No one here knows, honestly these QBs probably don't even know yet.

So Manske who very likely will be the starting QB if Rocco leaves would go to K-State to be a backup to Johnson? Doesn’t make a damn bit of sense to me
That’s the general way people aren’t thinking. If the starter at your position leaves, why would you go elsewhere if you are slated to start. Probably even get a NIL bump

Some guys are going to stay because even with Campbell leaving they came to play for Iowa State. I think some of the guys from Iowa or more likely to stay but we dont know what guys are thinking right now. Some may love being here and dont want to leave too. And its not a given that some of these guys would get the same playing time at PSU either. We will lose guys that follow Campbell and even go to other schools but hopefully have some pleasant surprises from some key guys that want to stick around too.

I noticed Manske is the only X account that Rogers started following since being named head coach.

Based on the Hawks/SDSU Gronowski running a lot. And WSU's QB had 25% of the team's rushes this year. So Rogers might favor a QB who is a physical RPO guy.

Just for comparison, it's not like Rocco didn't run- he rushed 86 times or 18% of the Cyclones carries. But it did seem like Rocco's rushes dropped off after the Cincy game.

Could also be that he schemes to the strengths of his players.

Disagree, it's ISU and someone will be qb. If you think your the man your getting paid take the number 1 spot. That is what these coach/player meetings are tomorrow.

I understand the "sky is falling" take by some Cyclone fans about the number of guys who are going to enter the portal. I have no idea if it's going to be 10, 20 or 40. But I hope Rogers can keep that number low, partly based on the culture Matt Campbell instilled.

But even if Campbell stayed, because of the House Settlement and growth additional NIL funds at a lot of schools, it would not have surprised me if 15-20 Cyclone players would have entered the portal this off-season. There's just going to be so much crazy money floating around over the next month. And maybe a lot of empty promises, that it could get ugly across college football.
