I'd be thrilled with anything better than 5-4. I'm going with 5-4 though.

Wins: VS OU, WVU, TTU, BAYLOR, @ TCU
LOSSES:'@ Kansas State, @ Oklahoma State, @ Oklahoma, @ Texas.

If ISU plays with the intensity they had tonight in those four road games then I would honestly expect them to win most of them. Oklahoma is the only team on that list that can score with ISU. They just have to find that same level of intensity in each of those games. KU had to do a ton of things right to win tonight.
At this this point how can you predict a road win? Let a lone more than 1.

Over Bill Self's tenure, KU has averaged an 0.830 conference record. That projects to about 15-3 or 14-4 over an 18 game schedule. They probably have a few losses left in them. That said, at 6-3, we have no margin for error if we hope to take the regular season conference. Now THAT said, all that really matters is to play well enough to secure a good seed in the Tourney and then get hot when it matters.

Yup, keep improving and beat KU in the B12 tournament(again), then make our mark at the big dance while KU predictably embarrasses the conference(again).

Hats off to ISU for the tough battle tonight. They fought to the end and were tough to finish off. That was an amazing game by Nianhg out there. He was very impressive. KU needed to severely improve their transition defense, hit more threes, drive to contact AND get better play from their backup bigs to pull off a win against ISU and they were able to accomplish all of these things tonight. That was a thrilling game to watch between two very good teams.

I was glad KU was able to force ISU into a lot more half court offense because they haven't been great in the half court in the road games I have watched them play. Niang's great play kept them in the game but KU was mostly able to keep the rest of the team under control and make everything hard for them.

KU had to shoot really well in a game where they were basically conceding the offensive glass and they pulled it off. Greene coming in and hitting those two big threes was huge to ignite KU in the first half. He is going to be a lethal sharpshooter as his career rolls along. Once again, hats off to ISU for an epic battle. The Big 12 looked strong tonight. No one is going to want to play either of those teams come tourney time.

ISU is not a good team in their half court offense. Decent, but certainly not as good as when their transition game is blowing up. Glad KU sacrificed some boards for their transition defense tonight. Was definitely the difference in the game. Both teams were absolutely gassed at the end so you could tell they all gave everything they had for this one tonight. A well deserved extra few days of rest for both teams before Saturday.

16-9 and 18-11 were the two biggest leads for ISU. Then Greene came in...

Twocoach, I have highlighted part of your compliments just to make sure that you realize why people feel they come off like:

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume it is just bad wording due to you being so excited for your monumental win...

This is one thing I just don't understand about some of the posters on this site. These guys played their hearts out tonight and left their guts out on the court. Isn't that all we can ever ask of a bunch of 18-21 year old young adults? As long as the intensity and effort is there, fans should be supportive of their team.

Right on and amen!

KU embarrasses the Big 12 in the dance? KU is the only team in the conference to make the Final Four in how long? Also, pretty sure KU has two National Championship appearances in 6 years. Maybe the rest of the Big 12 should make some noise in the tournament.

Still love our team, but 7-2? I think the 5-4 poster is closer to being right. We only have 4 home games left, and we've only won 1 of our previous 4 road games. Throw in Maryland & SCarolina losses....this team is just so much better in Hilton, its almost crazy...like a 10-pt. difference. If this team wins out at home and wins three more road games, I would be pleasantly surprised but gladly come on here and eat crow. OU has won at Okie State and Texas. Not sure this team will do that. OU has been impressive lately, imo, as they seem to have more consistent scoring depth than we do right now (at least away from Hilton). I think OU takes 2nd with only 4 road games left, unless WV picks up more road wins. I see us fighting for 3rd/4th. Not down on the team, just where I see us, due to ROAD struggles. Realize some of you disagree on the "road" thing. Flame away. Sucks that KU will probably win it again, but still alot to play for. Hope the guys don't let down with one of their main goals now improbable. They played hard and sometimes too fast, if thats possible.

You have nailed it. But I think a 5-4 team could still be a sweet 16 team and a 7-2 team could be a final four team. Big 12 road games are brutal. So don't hate too much on those of us who see more road losses coming.

That tends to happen when shooters are given 5+ feet of room. Overall not a bad game at all; only real gripes are the to's and not closing out on shooters.

I think it would be interesting to throw some random press out every so often just to throw teams off guard and maybe burn a timeout or two.

The press only works if it's ran to perfection. Yes we got a couple turnovers off of it, but it seemed like some, and I'll single out Naz specifically, were out of position time and again. KU coughed it up once or twice but caught on pretty fast

After some thought, my analysis of the game:

We played well, but not great. We needed great to beat KU the way they were playing. The defense is primarily where we fell down. We lost their shooters in help and forgot about the trailing shooters in the secondary transition. With that said, we did a reasonable job in keeping KU out of the paint, and that is job #1. We were a little loose with the ball and forced some things, and gave away the ball on turnovers more than we could afford.

As I said though, we played pretty well. Certainly can't fault our effort and intensity. Give KU credit, they are a good young team that is improving, and they hit the shots they needed to hit, and were obviously ready and wanting this game.

The road ahead is tough, but I see our guys as up to the challenge.

I think regardless of how they finish the regular season that ISU is fully capable of making a deep run in the tourney. They can score a ton and give teams fits in match ups. And they are a team that gets emotionally up for big games. If they can get out of the first two rounds without getting caught overlooking someone then they can do some damage.

After being at the game I can honestly say for Hilton to be at that level the non student fans need to stand up and get into it. Other than that there wasn't a ton of difference. I saw some calls that were bad both ways and a lot of ****** defense from us. The one thing I kept hearing KU fans say even when they were up nearly 20 was "Don't ease up, they can get back into this thing in less than 3 minutes" they seemed to be legitimately worried that we would make a push. Sucks we lost but it was still a memorable trip.

Yes, effort was good. Let the deficit get a little too steep in the first half, that was going to be a challenge to push back into it and stay there. Didn't take enough advantage early when defense was playing well and Kansas was cold. At KU, there are always runs. It just depends when, how often and how much.

Bummed (and I hate losing to Kansas), but a lot of season to go and it's better than being swept. That was getting really old.

I just wish we would quit doubling the post and leaving wide open 3's. KU and other teams have not dominated us with their post games, with McKay - lets just play it straight up and defend the 3 point line better. The games we have lost it has been the 3 ball that has killed us. Baylor, Tech and KU.

KU played about as well as they could last night. Makes me feel ok, since ISU played average at best (more likely a C- game) and hung tough.

we got KUs best game at this point of the year. And my bet is their top or top 2 games for the entire season. Tough to beat any team at home, let alone KU when that happens. KU was up for the big game and so where we.

Good hustle. Need to settle down.

My biggest concern was how MM handled the constant pressure.... IMO it looked like he didn't like it and it negatively affected his game. Hence our hurry on the half court.

Oh well, I do want to win 3 more road games and think we can... calling OU, TX and TCU road wins.

They did to us in Lawrence what we did to them in Ames. Difference in score is them making the free throws down the stretch.

KU ran great offense, and Bill Self is a heckuva Coach so you had to expect them to. He was relishing the big game, and his players stepped up.

Considering all of the tweking of the lineup this year has had I like where we are at. These guys will continue to improve.

Naz has to avoid fouling. We need him in the game.

I kept yelling call it the same both ways! But that is to be expected. The fact is that if you are going to win at Kansas, you need to play significantly better than them. Their home court is tough, just like ours.

I don't recall seeing two college teams play harder during a regular season game. The play wasn't always pretty, but the effort was outstanding. I think the intensity of the Kansas players brought to the game speaks to the status of where our program is at now.

This... we are the thorn that is showing, and KU needs to take care of it. We will have their attention for every game.. more so now (and last night) than ever before.

I felt like we were rebounding pretty well with Kansas, and I looked in the box score and saw we got 17 offensive rebounds(!) to their 12, and we out rebounded them overall 41-38. That was a positive sign.

I think the game was really lost by our guards and their slow rotations to cover KU's three-point shooters. Selden had all the time in the world when he was hitting everything in the second half. You knew those shots were going in when they left his hand.

One thing I've begun to notice more and more is that when our guys drive baseline and then dish the ball to McKay, he usually fumbles it first. Our half court offense doesn't seem to flow as well with him in the game. He makes up for it by through offensive rebounds and by being an intimidating force on defense, though.

I do. The only road game i see us winning is TCU. Ok St. will be the toss up.

So they lose at Baylor on a late shot, they win at 2nd place WVU.
And yet they are gonna lose all their road games but 1?

Why do fans go to the extremes after a loss?

Pure comedy.
